  1. I read somewhere (that I can’t find now) that there were teams interested in Foley. I think Foley would be a big bonus for a team with a HR friendly park.
  2. Padres system looks weak. Very pitching heavy and None of the pitchers seem to be putting up good results. Even their top position prospects are having poor years statistically. I’d rather have the comp pick than any of what they’d try and offer.
  3. I agree. Set the price and don’t budge. If we keep him then we keep him and will be happy to do so. Honestly, same goes for Flaherty. Don’t Avila up the situation. I say get whatever you can get for Canha and Urshela though.
  4. I’d do that deal if we quickly followed it up with another deal where we dealt out of those log jams (example: trading Jung/Meadows/Lee) and added some legitimate MLB caliber pitching. Highly doubt that would be the strategy though. That being said, If Skubal is dealt it needs to be for exactly what we want and need in return- not something that we have to make a bunch of other moves to maximize.
  5. If we can fix his BB issues, he otherwise has good peripherals. Not expecting much than minor league depth though.
  6. Wasn’t Vanasco the guy we absolutely torched in that big 5 run comeback inning against the Dodgers?
  7. I hate to say it but I’m starting to think we are going to end up being disappointed with the deadline moves. Not that they will singularly be bad, but that Skubal will stay and the returns we get on anyone else that’s dealt won’t be franchise altering. Or at least not anyone ready to make an immediate impact until mid-next year at the earliest. Then we will still go into next year with 1-2 questionable spots in the rotation, plus Baez still the every day SS, Tork being given another shot at everyday 1B, some sort of Jace Jung platoon at 3B, and too many LH outfielders.
  8. Aww cmon, give Maeda his props too
  9. It’s not ideal at all, but there isn’t much left as far as options without an acquisition. Might as well actually plan for two of them to be starters so you can try to get some semblance of a workload balance for the rest of the pen. Maybe use Holton instead of Faedo because he’s actually effective.
  10. At this point you’d think they’d be trying to stretch out Faedo or Brieske. and to be fair, Maeda looked quite a bit better yesterday so if we “throw in the towel” and trade Flaherty, just slot Maeda back in at least until we get Mize and/or Olson back.
  11. I definitely expect Dingler to struggle a bit with the adjustment….we just need to commit to giving him the reps.
  12. Curious if Dingler will transition quickly to the bigs or not. Seems to take him at least a half season to get going offensively at each level jump. Hinch needs to play him 2/3 of the time over Rogers the rest of the year.
  13. Fair, although outside of a bit of a hot streak for a few weeks this year, I haven’t been impressed with Kelly. i trust Harris and Co on evaluating arms, so if they went after this AA reliever, I feel like they must think he can be elevated to something worthwhile. The catcher we got just helps with Depth. If the reliever can be serviceable by next year, that hopefully helps us move on from a few of the duds we have in the pen right now.
  14. Is it Frank Howard? I only know that he played there from going to OSU at the same time as Nick Swisher and Howard and Dave Burba being the only two names I had ever heard of on their list of pros at the stadium. I was hoping the Tigers were going to draft Swisher back then. Burba, Howard, Swisher and now Dingler are the only 4 OSU players I can name that made it to the majors so if the answer is someone else than I’m curious how they’re famous.
  15. Jansen is a better than Kelly. Maybe not necessarily numbers wise this year but career wise. Anyone hoping to get anything more than what we got was probably aiming too high. Dingler has the ability to be better than both Kelly and Rogers.
  16. They’ve continuously been highly competitive and have won their division multiple times in the last 15 years despite three of the other four teams always running huge payrolls. We haven’t been very competitive in our division the last 10 years despite none of the other teams ever spending much.
  17. I’d have been shocked if he didn’t get used in this game. We aren’t exactly in a spot where we can give guys mini-vacations…
  18. What exactly is the plan with Maeda? Despite two weeks worth of multiple bullpen days in the rotation, he’s only pitched twice since July 9th. If he’s so bad that we aren’t even gonna use him in the bullpen games at all, then just release him or phantom injury him.
  19. Trade him now!!!!!
  20. Or ask them what the list of prospects they are willing to include in a deal for our player and then ask for someone outside of that list
  21. DD probably would’ve traded Mize and Torkelson for future HOFers before they even got to the majors.
  22. Wentz should have to deliver the pizzas from the pizza spear to the opposing dugout after every outing
  23. Is this real life?
