I feel like Bergman’s offensive numbers would crater in Comerica vs playing in that Mickey Mouse ballpark he’s been in.
I have more faith in Vierling as a regular 3B
No. I’d prefer they pass the savings onto the fans and the stadium event employees if they’re making so much money. Or invest it back into the cities that support the teams.
but that’ll never happen.
Call me insane, but with all of the struggles going on in the country, it’s getting really hard to read about the amounts of money high level baseball players are getting now. I’m all for them getting theirs….but good grief.
I’m swinging towards us needing to trade Skubal next summer unless we are in control of the division. There’s no way we are going to extend him or re-sign him for what he will get on the open market…..nor should we. Too much long term financial burden for a short term success.
The Jose Guillen throw from deep right field to third base still amazes me.
I can’t find the clip but there was an Iglesias play where the batter hit a tapper between the mound and third base and Iggy ran in, dove at it and bare handed it and threw it across his body as he was in the air aimed towards home plate to get the runner at first. That was always my favorite infield defensive play.
IMO, they should have to pay interest on the contract like you would for a credit card purchase.
Also they should still be on the hook for all deferred money in the event that they trade him to another team.
Point is- it’s not hard to find a bat that can significantly outperform Carpenter vs LHPs. Even with JHMs struggle period he ended up clearing Carps OPS vs LHP by like .500 points
I’m not a big McKinstry fan, but he does fit in excellently with what Hinch tries to do with platooning, pinch hitting, and defensive subs. So I’m good with it.
