The details of any plan this winter is between the team and Tork. Harris doesn't lip off about that kind of thing like we got used to Avila doing. I would be shocked to learn that this front office had no idea what Tork's been doing this winter and simply pulled the decision to move Colt to first base out of their ear. My guess is after monitoring Tork for the first two months of the offseason, they were dissatisfied with the results and made it clear they are cutting bait on him. I'd bet money they've been actively shopping him around.

It's not unusual for LHHs to have dramatic platoon shifts versus LHPs. It's considered somewhat less unacceptable given how about only a third of total plate appearances take place against LHPs. A RHH hitter couldn't survive for long in the majors having the same split problems against RHPs.

Thing is, if we do deal for Paredes, we'd essentially be betting on getting his three arb years at third for us and writing off Jace Jung as a future possibility for the position—unless we plan on moving Jung back to second, where he didn't play even a single pitch all last year.

I read his post less as faulting Carpenter for getting hurt so much* than as a general observation that as long as he does get hurt for several weeks at a stretch every year, his utility to us is limited and consequently difficult to depend on. * - Unless Carpenter is consistently doing something off-book that leads to his injury. Then yeah, it would be his fault.

The only thing I don’t agree with here is at the very end where he says Canada’s “closest friends and neighbors are choosing to target” them. That’s not who’s targeting them.

Too bad we didn’t have phones back then so we could video them. I’ll bet there are fewer, probably far fewer, which I base on the personal observation that I see far less fighting out in the wild than I used to, and I see far fewer stories of teenage gangs terrorizing cities than I did when we were kids.

I would bet money they are watching something other than John Wick, certainly not in numbers enough to form gangs and cause mayhem. If I had to guess, I’d guess they’re watching TikTok and YouTube videos.

I didn’t hear Bowden say in that segment that Bregman wanted to stay “home”, but I do think you’re right that he does, and he’d take less money to do so. Although, as for Boston, Bregman definitely would go there because he has already said he would play out of position for the chance to do it. But I do think you’re right that Bregman’s #1 preference is stay in Houston, and we’re talking him making enough money that he might take $10MM or even $20MM less overall to do it. As for Bowden, what does he base his idea on, that the Tigers have the best offer out there for Bregman, other than “he thinks” “perhaps”? That would mean Harris has put an offer on the table for Bregman that’s better than 6/156, and given the current state of our organzation and the guy leading them, that makes no sense to me. Even if he’s right on this one, Bowden has never impressed me with insights or inside dope. I will say this for Bowden, though: his idea trading an OF for Paredes is kind of an intriguing idea, since he’s is a free agent in three years, although he’s probably not the defender we need there and may even play himself out of the position, and I don’t know what major league-ready OF we could give them that the Astros would want, outside of Riley or Parker, which definitely ain’t happening.

Tigers fans have been conditioned to such sub-major league talent in the organization for so long that even the better ones among them seem quite acceptable, even though it’s unlikely they’ll end up anywhere else but Asia or Mexico once they go. Grid willing, we won’t be thinking that way a few years from now.
