  1. Unless I'm misunderstanding his statement, this is the first time I've ever heard a politician on either side admit that people voted against Kamala simply because she's a black woman.
  2. Oh, no, Catholics are the good guys nowadays, for the moment, anyway. Hell, Catholics might even qualify as honorary Christians for the time being. This is what they mean.
  3. But at least he calls it "Gulf of America".
  4. Maybe because Avila forced Tork onto the active roster and Hinch didn't agree with it and/or think Tork wasn't ready for middle of the order.
  5. I don't think the Tigers are committed at this moment to making Colt the permanent first baseman. I'm thinking they moved him there for thsi year because they want him in the lineup to get big league trigger time, they were planning for the contingency that Tork might be done here or never be able to play first effectively again, and they found a better hitting second baseman as a stopgap than they could a first baseman. Colt could move back to second next year, with Tork at first, or else someone else holding down the position while we wait for Liranzo or Briceno to take it. Or maybe Colt will long term at first if Jace Jung or McGonigle come up to play second. I guess it's certainly possible Colt will long term it at first, but I don't think that's the committed plan as of this time.
  6. I'm willing to give the 23-year-old a few more games against not-World Champs before I push the panic button on him.
  7. Apropos of not this, I listened to the Arizona feed of the Cubs-Diamondbacks last night, and they played local Phoenix commercials, which I was thrilled to hear. I always have loved hearing charming local commercials during ballgames. Last year, MLB At Bat would play only commercials that are local to the subscriber, meaning Chicago commercials for me, for every team's feed, not just Cubs and White Sox; and not only while I was in Chicago, but no matter where I was, anywhere in the country. Turn on a Tigers game on At Bat while driving in North Carolina, and there's a commercial for some Chicago-based ambulance chaser. And since it was a streaming ad deal instead of local radio commercials, it would be the same. God. Damn. Commercial. Over. And. Over. Every. Break. It was maddening. I hope they maintain commercials local to team feeds going forward.
  8. To be fair, we are short a few key offensive pieces.
  9. I would have thought of it as a Ted Williams night, who did it once. But yeah, Barry Bonds did do it once, but then, so did Bobby Bonds. So did Hank Aaron, Jimmie Foxx, Ken Griffey Jr, Rickey!, Mickey!, Mark McGwire, Mel Ott, Duke Snider, Frank Thomas, and Freddie Patek. The only two guys to do it twice were Edgar Martinez and Jim Thome.
  10. You don't watch the Yankees, then, because Aaron Judge did it just last year. 😉 To your point, though, Tork's is only the 53rd time this has happened in the 124+ years of game-by-game data kept by Reference. That's a little less than once every two years. https://stathead.com/tiny/tqI0e Tork doesn't show up on the list as of 9:10am ET because Reference is a little slow on the draw this morning. Tork is also the second Tiger to do this. Jason Thompson did it in 1979. It didn't help those Tigers win the game, either. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIN/MIN197905030.shtml
  11. The game is on at the bowling alley!
  12. The FanGraphs staff is giving the slight edge to the Tigers to win the AL Central: Even though the projected standing on the site have the Tigers two games behind the Twins. https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings
  13. Man, it's as though you're hovering over me while I bowl. I do look like complete **** these days! But, yeah, we are already down a guy and bowling a blind. Six-person team for four slots and three are gone today.
  14. Found it! Thanks. Hope thirty seconds is enough. I was hoping to find a setting for 60 seconds.
  15. The pitching staff is so strong and deep that, if they stay healthy for the most part, we'll be a top five staff in all of baseball. So, that by itself is going to make the early going interesting. I'd be satisfied taking one of three in LA.
  16. Man, seeing that lineup and bench on paper, that looks a lot weaker that we thought it would couple months ago.
  17. The way Avila broke the Tork glass case?
  18. I don't Putin regards Trump as an ally so much as he regards him as a supplicant.
  19. Republicans' #1 job now is to reduce that 60% number.
  20. So the UN post never was about her qualifications. Check.
  21. Now that they are a de facto monopoly, Amazon has no incentive to fix it, improve it, or even keep it from getting worse.
  22. The chances Max Clark gets promoted to the Tigers this season is approximately zero, ±0.
