  1. They must still think AIDS is a f****t disease, and since God Hates F**s™, more AIDS will make America greater faster. I guess.
  2. I think it's possible the Democrats calculated that even though the knew their opponents were unprincipled, the electorate would see how bad the Republicans are on this measure and would reject them on that basis. So I think it might be less that they're naive about the nature of their opponents than they are about the nature of what the electorate will and will not accept. If that's the case, with any luck, the realization is landing hard with them and they are developing effective strategies to counter the fascists without selling out their own philosophical souls. That will be a delicate dance for them.
  3. He did that for a Class C team, after which he was rewarded with a promotion to a Class B team the following season, during which he walked 196 and struck out 150 in 103 innings, after which he received a promotion to Class A!
  4. I always put Dan on the audio feed over the MLB.tv video. Problem solved. Although I will miss Andy being on the radio with him. I thought it worked well because Dan is all business, which led Andy to moderate his propensity for clubhouse-like joking. When Andy is on with Jason there are no guardrails, so it can get to be really too much between the two of them as they start competing to top each other.
  5. Ball's in the stands. Guy had a right to it. Here's what I'm not 100% certain of: if the Cubs were the home team for both games, why did they wear their roads while the Dodgers wore their homes? Is it as simple as Dodger merch sales in Japan? Occam's Razor applies here?
  6. At what point is Elon Musk going to sue the people of the United States of America for not buying Teslas and the company’s stock, the way he sued advertisers for not advertising on X?
  7. Attendance revenue is not nothing, but a fair debate can be had as to whether it is “hugely important”. Also, revenue sharing is not part of this probably because it’s a zero-sum source for teams in general, meaning some teams make money off other teams who pay.
  8. To be clear, when Trump talks about how the “Human Rights of people have been strenuously questioned”, he has championing white people and only white people.
  9. Depending on where you live, you better hurry and get it before your local library pulls it off their shelves.
  10. Especially when it gets applied more and more to people of non-African descent, such as “sand [n-word]s” and “feather [n-word]s”.
  11. Dropkick Murphy is right. Only a rat turns his back on his friends for no good reason, and that’s what Trump led America to do.
  12. They’re not replacing phone support with text. They’re replacing it with nothing. The whole idea is to get you to give up trying to get your full benefits when they start stiffing you, so they can do something else with that money instead.
  13. My advisor tells me to avoid moving any of my money out of current US funds into international like Europe and Japan because it would be like a knee-jerk reaction. Thinking strongly about overruling them. Their time horizon is probably longer than mine.
  14. Watching spring games on TV is not so good either, unless you really like watching scrubini players being interviewed for an entire inning or more. Especially where they show a two-camera shot where the bigger frame is the player and the smaller frame is the game action. It’s even worse when they do that same shot during regular season games and the bigger frame are three guys in a booth.
  15. And it’s a feature that probably about a third of all voters explicitly pulled the lever for.
  16. Great catch. By not putting “brief” in quotes, they are basically affirming the regime’s claims.
  17. 2024: Pitching chaos = playoff appearance 2025: Position player chaos = ???
  18. It’s revenue. No way they can pass that up.
  19. Yes, that count. Eerily similar circumstances.
  20. I think there is zero chance he goes back on Khalil. Trump is beholden to Jewish/Israeli interests that influence his administration and his red hat base (who, even though they don't particularly like or respect Jews, need Israel to pursue the certain course they say will bring Christ back again); and he has already publicly regarded Muslims as not being worthy to be in America, with his blanket bans on visits from countries that are primarily Muslim.
  21. The questions that leap to my mind are (1) why is he qualifying "physically"? What are all the others ways he would admit to having hurt people?; and (b) why does he draw the line at hurting someone "physically", as though hurting people any and all other ways is acceptable?
  22. Pasting this here from the pet peeve thread. Speaking of ages and movies, I wondered something as I was watching the movie "Pride of the Yankees", googled it, and it's true: Gary Cooper, the actor who played Lou Gehrig, was born two years before Gehrig was. I wonder whether any other actor in a major motion picture ever played a real-life character they were actually older than.
