  1. Does anyone know who or what "Raelene Oullette" is? That's a bluesky account that started following me out of nowhere. A bunch of people here follow it, and it follows over 3,000 accounts, but there is but a single post from it. Can anyone vouch for it?
  2. I tried to do something like that with this thread: But it seems as though this other thread may well get more traction: Either way, I'll go where the people go.
  3. Clock's ticking ...
  4. My main concern about Bluesky is what happens when the Russian operatives, bomb-throwing radical right-wingers and leftists, charlatans, and other unsavory characters come into that environment with the intention of poisoning it and dragging it down to the level of X? Is there any mechanism in place for policing that, or will this become just another poster child for bogus free speech absolutism? If there is no actual governance—if it operates strictly on on-your-honor norms and not actual policies with real consequences—then what’s to stop that from happening? Hopefully there’s some governance in place. Does anyone know?
  5. They will need to develop an iPad version of Bluesky, soon, I hope.
  6. @adequatesamaritan.bsky.social Baseball/sports-only feed.
  7. Acting Secretary of HHS.
  8. Acting Secretary of Defense indefinitely. Well, at least he won’t overrule Trump’s desire to send the military into cities to root out disloyal people.
  9. More like Kyle Rittenhouse for Capitol Police Chief.
  10. That ship sailed long, long ago, e.g., new stadiums for major league sports. Now this approach will be applied to everything once thought only a public institution. The Trump regime plans to starve cities and blue states of support at the federal level in order to redirect and pocket the tax revenue themselves instead. So, exit services maintained in the public interest by a democratically-elected government—enter privately-capitalized ventures such as tuition-only education subsidized only at the corporate level, and subscription-based police and fire service.
  11. Yeah, this thread might pass Aisle Lunatic before long.
  12. Just saw it yesterday. It will probably be the frontrunner for the Oscar, and not just for its actual quality of presentation, which I agree is top-notch. The type of story and the moral it tells is very trenchant for Hollywood at this particular time. Some people will think it too on the nose, but I’d watch it again if for nothing else than the photography and the performances.
  13. Western civilization, baby.
  14. You're probably right, but I still think it should go to Hinch, who actually had to manage a team that cycled rookies through 50% of the lineup because the players and pitchers they were depending on in April to help us win this year were either hurt, terrible, or traded.
  15. You might be right on the QO, but I am not at all certain having Tork on the team as of today is all that much of a barrier. Your solution might be the one they go with.
  16. Or the public drawing of guns in a dispute?
  17. This is not at all the idea my post was contemplating.
  18. I don't know, Skubal has been great so far, do we really expect him to keep it up until 2034 or so? Or even into the 2030s? I'm not sure I would.
  19. We already had Gregory Soto once and it didn't work out for us. I don't know which outfielder we would dump to lock up Santander—I assume you mean Carpenter, but I don't think Santander is any more of an advantage for us in right field, and I don't think we're in the market for a minus right fielder to replace another one for big bucks simply because he's on the other side of the plate. Teoscar, same thing, plus he had a full season of 108 OPS+ just a year ago, so I don't know that he's necessarily guaranteed to be much better than that at ages 32+. I like the idea of Christian Walker. Plus defender, 20-plus-homer threat from the right side in Comerica, already playing the position his age requires anyway, and we should be able to get him relatively cheap, meaning, no more than three years guaranteed.
  20. So, I had joined Bluesky on an invite last year, tried it out for a few days, saw it wasn't really getting much traction, and bailed, just like most people. This time feels different. I went to recreat my news/politics feed from Twitter and went to my Following list there to try to follow those same accounts at bsky. I would say that roughly two-thirds of them are not yet there as of this minute, including some real major Twitter players. Of the one-third that are at bsky, I see several of them posted a lot in the June to July 2023 timeframe, then not at all until anywhere from a month ago to a few hours ago. So it seems like people are rediscovering bsky, and I would bet there will be a huge surge in users and usage every day for the next few weeks, and the Bluesky Surge will become an actual news story at some point before the holidays really get revved up. Too bad I can't invest a few bucks in them right now. 😁
  21. Wish I wasn't out of reaction, so, laugh!
  22. What, no Baseball Crank??
  23. I think the bigger question is why the Democrats super-cheated to win the 2020 election but didn't bother to cheat even a little to win this one. 😜
  24. Well, it's not like he's the only one ... 🦆🦆🦆 I do think it will take some weeks to sift through the volume of data.
