  1. Not at all true. buddha would never capitalize "way".
  2. The overwhelming negative has little to do with Javy's overall value, and much to do with the perception of his personality, and maybe a little of the swing and miss, which yes, is a problem and probably always will be. But he's still been a consistently 4-5 win player over the last three full seasons. He's a plus defender with the best tag tool you'll ever see, a great baserunner who can snatch safe from the jaws of out, a 140-game-a-year workhorse, and has 30-homer pop from the second most-important position on the field. Come on, who doesn't want that? Maybe Javy won't age well into his mid 30s, but that wouldn't have to be our problem since even with a five-year deal, he's gone after age 33. In the meantime he'd put up 15 or more WAR, practically guaranteed. I'd prefer Trevor Story on a slightly richer deal, but absent that I'd take Javy and be glad to do so.
  3. I don't think it will necessarily take 6/130 to bring him on board. I think he could probably be had for five or even four years, and for 20 a year, maybe even a scosh less. I could see him signing for 4/76, particularly if he's the one without a chair after the music stops.
  4. I’m not sure what it is you’re trying to put across here. Can you please restate your point in a font that’s 48 points or greater?
  5. I’ve met Lolich several times. He’s a good story teller and a good guy to have a beer with. That said, he’s also used to being the center of attention and getting his way, so i could see why someone who has to work for him might butt heads with him.
  6. We don’t want Baez says who? I’d be thrilled to have Baez on this team. I would agree he’s not among my top three choices, but “we don’t want him” is a bit much, isn’t it?
  7. I prefer 1984Echoes’ cherries to yours. You are really grasping at straws trying to prove Tork wasn’t good at AAA. Good grief, the guy had a .375 wOBA there. Not only is that the equivalent of Paul Goldschmidt or Rafael Devers or Brandon Crawford, it actually places him in the top 20% of AAA-East hitters.
  8. Not to mention the revenue from their merchandise sales, various licensing contracts, mixed-use developments near their ballparks, advanced media business, the gambling, the crypto, and the NFTs.
  9. How low does Sinclair’s brand equity have to be for them to decide it would be better to bring on a gambling company as the naming sponsor of their RSN?
  10. This'll wake you up in the morning. Or the afternoon or night, for that matter.
  11. Based on my experience hearing from Dawn, I'm gonna guess "no".
  12. I would have been happy if Rittenhouse had stayed the fuck home, where 17-year-old kids belong. The kid waved a semiautomatic rifle around in a volatile, divisive crowd situation that was already being managed by a phalanx of police and National Guard. How much more obvious does it have to be that he was looking for action? Rittenhouse is the lawless thug here.
  13. "The world is better off with both of them dead." Holy shit.
  14. No bother at all, budd. Things can be dicey anywhere people congregate. It's no worse in downtown Chicago than downtown Detroit or downtown just about anywhere. I don't think there's any particular need to be hypervigilant. A reasonable awareness of your surroundings, same as at a game or a festival or the mall, is almost always enough.
  15. I think with the acquisition of impact players, we’ll see Tork and probably Riley in Detroit sooner than later. I don’t think free agents would sign on to losing, or more exactly, not actively trying to contend, for even one year. I’m guessing getting the top kids up quickly must have been part of the conversation before signing the deal.
  16. Quick, you have half an hour to get to a Sirius radio or app.
  17. No interest in rabbit holes today, thank you. 😁
  18. I don't worry about anyone randomly shooting me because I'm not in anybody's business. Vast majority of the time, if someone gets shot, then someone else targeted them for it. Yes, I realize that I could be an exception because in a world where anything can happen, anything can happen. Hope it won't disappoint you to hear that the idea of my getting shot in downtown Chicago never crosses my mind even a little.
  19. Looks like Let's Go Bannon has achieved his right-wing martyr optics. Cue the Tucker Outrage Machine:
  20. I wouldn't worry much about crime around Chicago Theater. There's tons of people walking around all the time all night, especially on weekends. And random outdoor crime is way, way less likely during the last week of January, which is the coldest time of the year. regardless of the calendar, though, it's certainly no worse there than it is around Comerica Park on any given night. Of course, if you're cavorting around town at three or four in the morning, then all bets are off. Nothing good happens on the streets of any big city at three or four in the morning.
  21. To Lee's point, it makes it more likely he opts out on decent performance and becomes somebody else's problem for his thirties. I like that, in general, although one downside is that if he rocks the mound the next two seasons and we go into 2024 as a favorite, we may need to overpay him with too many years to keep him around for that.
  22. FWIW, this FF has been ticking down pretty steadily, but that side, he relies less on that pitch and more on his cutter, sinker and change.
  23. Waaaay ahead of you ...
  24. As of today, masking indoors is an Illinois state requirement, and compliance, at least in the city, is practically 100%. Very rarely do you see anyone flout it. In fact, you will still see people walking alone on the streets outside while masked. I think that's going too far, but hey, they're certainly free to do so.
