This'll wake you up in the morning. Or the afternoon or night, for that matter.

Based on my experience hearing from Dawn, I'm gonna guess "no".

I would have been happy if Rittenhouse had stayed the fuck home, where 17-year-old kids belong. The kid waved a semiautomatic rifle around in a volatile, divisive crowd situation that was already being managed by a phalanx of police and National Guard. How much more obvious does it have to be that he was looking for action? Rittenhouse is the lawless thug here.

"The world is better off with both of them dead." Holy shit.

No bother at all, budd. Things can be dicey anywhere people congregate. It's no worse in downtown Chicago than downtown Detroit or downtown just about anywhere. I don't think there's any particular need to be hypervigilant. A reasonable awareness of your surroundings, same as at a game or a festival or the mall, is almost always enough.

I think with the acquisition of impact players, we’ll see Tork and probably Riley in Detroit sooner than later. I don’t think free agents would sign on to losing, or more exactly, not actively trying to contend, for even one year. I’m guessing getting the top kids up quickly must have been part of the conversation before signing the deal.

Quick, you have half an hour to get to a Sirius radio or app.

No interest in rabbit holes today, thank you. 😁

That's not what I meant! -
I don't worry about anyone randomly shooting me because I'm not in anybody's business. Vast majority of the time, if someone gets shot, then someone else targeted them for it. Yes, I realize that I could be an exception because in a world where anything can happen, anything can happen. Hope it won't disappoint you to hear that the idea of my getting shot in downtown Chicago never crosses my mind even a little.

Looks like Let's Go Bannon has achieved his right-wing martyr optics. Cue the Tucker Outrage Machine:

I wouldn't worry much about crime around Chicago Theater. There's tons of people walking around all the time all night, especially on weekends. And random outdoor crime is way, way less likely during the last week of January, which is the coldest time of the year. regardless of the calendar, though, it's certainly no worse there than it is around Comerica Park on any given night. Of course, if you're cavorting around town at three or four in the morning, then all bets are off. Nothing good happens on the streets of any big city at three or four in the morning.

To Lee's point, it makes it more likely he opts out on decent performance and becomes somebody else's problem for his thirties. I like that, in general, although one downside is that if he rocks the mound the next two seasons and we go into 2024 as a favorite, we may need to overpay him with too many years to keep him around for that. -

FWIW, this FF has been ticking down pretty steadily, but that side, he relies less on that pitch and more on his cutter, sinker and change. -
As of today, masking indoors is an Illinois state requirement, and compliance, at least in the city, is practically 100%. Very rarely do you see anyone flout it. In fact, you will still see people walking alone on the streets outside while masked. I think that's going too far, but hey, they're certainly free to do so.

I went to the show Late Night Catechism Saturday night, where an actress dressed as a nun does a one-woman show as a teacher in a Catholic grade school, and which involves audience participation in which she calls on people to answer questions about Catholic education principles like the Immaculate Conception and whatnot. It's actually a very funny and fun show to attend. One of the people the nun called on was Dawn. While watching Dawn gamely answering whatever the question was, it occurred to me that Dawn was just masculine enough to lead me to hypothesize that Dawn is trans. After the exchange, as the nun actress addressed the rest of the "class", she referred to Dawn as "Don" and used the pronoun "he" as reference. Dawn quickly stated that they preferred the pronouns "they/them", which the nun actress deftly handled in a slightly awkward but still, I believe, respectful way. I've come across many people online wishing to go by they/them, but this is the first time I had been live in the room with someone who asks for that consideration. Not surprising, since we've been in a self-imposed lockdown for the last year and a half. At intermission, while I was washing up in the restroom, Dawn came in and went into one of the stalls. They had to choose one or the other, I guess. But it certainly gives lie to the canard that men become trans only so they can go into ladies' rooms and harm females.

Devil's Advocate says it's possible for Kamala's vice presidency to be frustrating, dysfunctional, and scandal-free all at the same time, so this tweet doesn't do what Dr Johnson thinks it does.

Wasn't this basically the same reason that Bonsonaro was almost brought up on genocide charges in Brazil?

Trading for and signing frontline starters during the offseason. I had forgotten what that felt like. It's fun! -
Yes, because the #1 correlation to high gun violence rates is the very availability of guns.

Is there such thing as a team opt out? I’m having trouble seeing any decent free agent agreeing to that. I do see there is a no-trade clause, which is kind of interesting. I interpret that as an assurance by team to player that the team are truly serious about contending and are not going to just jerk player around and sell him off for prospects this year or next. I like that idea. -
I like it! Big fan of the component parts. Hope their deep cuts are gutsier than this.

I like it for three years. I’m a little more nervous about four. Not as happy if it’s five-plus, which it looks like. Looks like we still have to punt on the back half of contracts to get people to come here. -
Chris Myers must have royally pissed off somebody in the sports media business to fall all the way from top-tier Sportscenter anchor to Fox’s go-to PxP for Lions games.
