  1. Close: just as I got off the train at Clark and Lake, Skubal plunked Ramirez. Before I got out of the building, Skubal had grooved one to Lane Thomas. It was already 5-1 by the time I got to the Goodman, and it actually relaxed me a little since I figured it was a long shot to get back out of the hole. But I was able to sneak a peak at the phone between set changes.
  2. No … please … not the offseason thread … for the love of god, please, not the offseason thread …
  3. Because baseball is ironic, we got a bunch of guys in scoring position and couldn’t score them, and the guy we scored was not standing in scoring position.
  4. Riley owes Skubal dinner every night for the rest of the year for pulling his ass out of the jackpot.
  5. Too early for Carpenter, probably because we can get maybe one high-leverage AB out of him today.
  6. Malloy runs like an old-timey Tiger from the 2010s.
  7. Not only do they not anymore, they actually never did.
  8. It was Sweeney who had the rookie strikeout to end the game Thursday. And now we have stranded two in scoring position.
  9. Honestly, just make them all hits, already. Batters are literally hitting the ball into play, after all. And assigning errors have become such a subjective exercise that it's fair to wonder how much in-game and -team politics influences the decision.
  10. Parker meadows making it happen with a steal of third!
  11. ****ing Tork. Trade value dropping with each at bat.
  12. So the Sweeney error on the easy ground ball is a hit now. Huh.
  13. OK, post-error, those were three quick outs.
  14. Yes, I did say you were going to love watching Baez.
  15. Oh boy, this is not good when the side gets struck out and then we can't get routine grounders.
  16. Those swings are telling us they're not really seeing Boyd.
  17. Keep your beat poetry out of the baseball thread, you hippie freak.
  18. Vierling is kicking himself more after the Riley walk.
  19. Chris did prove he would open his checkbook in the right situation. It's just that the guy he trusted to tell him it was the right situation didn't know what the hell he was talking about.
  20. Vierling was totally anxious his first at bat, maybe trying to make it all happen right now.
  21. Boyd off to a good start for the Tigers!
  22. Yes, and also, major league teams and players have minimum standards for facilities and amenities that most if not all minor league parks simply cannot deliver on.
