Maybe playing the odds with every at bat - which is a make do thing born from expediency - is a scotch tape and paper clip thing that isn’t infinitely sustainable, especially when the guys you really rely upon falter and teams have figured out how to pitch to them. Add to that relievers who are really failed starters also get figured out.
A part of me just wants this season to get over and done with so I can invest my time in worrying about things I can actually affect like the state of the world and the limitations of human mortality. <ducks>
Although batting average doesn’t say everything - obviously - what it does say is that in the last 15 games Riley has batted .161 and in the last seven games, Torkelson has batted .185.
Neither one of them are connecting bat to ball much. Can’t say that their absence from the lineup will hurt too much and they might be called upon to pinch hit.
I guess I won’t get to watch any Lions games out in Idaho this year that are on Fox because they’re all require some Sunday ticket thing. I guess Peacock, ESPN ABC, which is the same thing or CBS Paramount will be my only chances.
I was just cursing the fact that this game with the Red Sox Sunday is inexplicably at around 3 PM Eastern time and then I remembered they do this every year for the last game of the season and that all the games begin roughly within 5 to 10 minutes of each other.
