  1. I’m listening to the radio guy for Cleveland. He works on his own no one else with him and all you hear about are home runs and RBIs. It’s as if all the new stats don’t exist, but this might be a small sample size on my part. We are so lucky to have Dan.
  2. Sounded like a homer for Ramirez but foul
  3. Baltimore is 2-8 in their last ten. Hope it stays that way.
  4. I understand people not liking it and it is of course just a commercial gimmick. To me, it looks like something a police force would wear in a future RoboCop era.
  5. I like our city connect uniforms, but I’m not wild about the solid color tops both teams are wearing today. It’s not bad. I just don’t particularly like it. I just like white or gray for home and away. It’s not a “dealbreaker” or anything. I suppose it’s intention is just to have more merchandise to sell.
  6. We just can’t expect boys to do a man’s job…
  7. Minnesota scores two
  8. Top of the fifth still 1-0 Cleveland leading Minnesota.
  9. Sadly, the inning ends without an extra Guardian run, and this is probably the only time in my life I will ever say this.
  10. Looks like it was an acceptable “neighborhood play” at Second.
  11. It looks like they have a really decent daytime crowd there.
  12. I thought about it too, but this will probably be OK.
  13. Cleveland got a lead off homer so it’s 1–0 over Minnesota right now.
  14. Hinch keeps emphasizing how they get these young players to “buy into the system“ at all levels. What we are seeing is that when they get to this level and it actually works, they have become devotees of a system that is working and it’s a part of their collective muscle memory. Our club appears to be developing a sort of Tigers Way.
  15. In a way they appear to be playing less “self-consciously“ in the most ordinary sense of that term of not tripping over your own feet. They are taking all of the coaching and instruction they’ve had and just allowing it to be expressed on the field and it seems to be working
  16. Andy really enjoys being on camera and appears to be having the time of his life.
  17. I’ve stopped pinching myself to see if I’m dreaming in hopes of discovering what things are like when I wake up. I’m awake, and this is what things are really like. This club’s potential is being actualized more quickly than any of us thought possible, and it’s not just dumb luck. It’s intentional. It’s more than a monkey randomly tapping out words at a typewriter. The traction and momentum are real. It’s not like they’re using alien technology discovered at Roswell either. They are consciously utilizing their assets and getting more out of all their moving parts than other clubs.
  18. I have a hypothetical question. Feel free to explain it to me as if I were a child. Let’s just say we’d had a really bad shortstop who played every game this season with only a -1.1 WAR, and through magic we were able to replace him with, say, Alan Trammell with a +6.0 WAR who likewise played every game in Ripkenesque fashion. I am assuming it’s more complicated than just replacing Trammell’s figures for the profoundly subpar player and coming up with a +4.9 WAR. But what would it look like? How much better would the team be?
  19. Mickey York keeps saying that Jung had a “matrix like“ slide, which is encroaching upon Jason‘s territory for cultural references. I had the radio feed on for audio on TV though. Sports Illustrated called it “the coolest slide of the season.”
  20. This is more fun than when we had teams that were loaded with all stars, Cy Young winners and future Hall of Famers because it is so surprising and unexpected. You expected those guys to win. And it hurt badly when it didn’t work out. But getting more than you bargained for is really something.
  21. I like how at least a couple of the Royals pitchers have color-coordinated their mitts with their caps. It would be a really cute ensemble if they did their shoes too.
