  1. By the way, this game is on Fox and last time mlb.tv allowed me to watch it in Idaho. I don’t know how this works for all of you in the Detroit area. I presume you can watch it on local Fox there. Those of you who live elsewhere may get screwed. In Idaho it is assumed that no one in their right mind would ever want to watch the Tigers, the team with the best record in the American League. So my local Fox affiliate will let me see the Mariners and Cleveland and Cleveland is great because they haven’t lost a single game all year long and none of their players are serving long jail sentences… yet. There will of course, be no FanDuel pregame show.
  2. I forgot what it was like to win. I didn’t follow this game very closely because I was expecting the worst and after the first inning… Glad the Tigers won. Glad Finnegan is excelling. After all the seeming setbacks and disappointments the Tigers still have the second most wins in all the baseball, but when you’re in the midst of a skid, it doesn’t feel like that. I know these guys play with passion and really care. But they have to have ice water in their veins still to withstand all the stuff that really bothers us.
  3. What’s with the Royals taking Lugo out so quickly? Don’t they know they’re supposed to leave him in until he allows eight or nine runs?
  4. Thanks for nothing Riley
  5. Tigers load the bases, but do not score.
  6. It would be really nice to score some runs in the first inning and not to allow several in the first inning to the Royals.
  7. The tedium of seeming mediocrity or worse is really starting to wear on me.
  8. Winning in baseball Is like stroking rich sable When you were a child (my haiku)
  9. I really enjoy Bobby’s insights. His tales of being a ball player are very good. It’s not just reminiscences. He was having a hard time with high breaking pitches and one of his coaches said that a pitch like that was already a home run and that all he had to do was to “tap it.“ It was a description of the minute mechanics of a specific challenge that evoked a sensuous immediacy. He has a good voice and a good sense of presence too.
  10. I’m killing Nazis, and I’m having a great time.
  11. We should probably consider ourselves lucky to get out of that bottom of the first and down by only one run.
  12. I’m re-watching Sisu for the eighth or ninth time because killing Nazis is more pleasurable than losing to the Sacramento Athletics. Good luck to all…
  13. Had the pleasure of helping a family of former Michiganders who had just moved to Idaho and still had Michigan license plates on their two vehicles parked one next to the other, one of which had the hood up with a dead battery, at one of our Trader Joe’s. The dad is an engineer, and Micron Technology here is going through a big hiring phase and he’s a new hire. I found it amusing that a person who can understand the ins and outs of memory and storage products, including DRAM, NAND flash, and SSDs didn’t know how to jump the battery in his minivan. But he had all this rarified technical knowledge - at least in my eyes - but not practical knowledge like that. It reminded me of another engineer I knew who was high up in the Micron hierarchy that I met here in 1988 who had a VHS tape player that always flashed the time 12:00 12:00 12:00… that he had apparently never figured out how to set. Those of you who are engineers or work with engineers might find this amusing or instructive in someway. I did
