The leadoff homer by Jones was really welcome, especially since he was repeating something he’d done days ago. This is the fruits of Hinchism. Start a guy high up in the order that’s good hitting lefties. Jones knows his role. He’s geared up for it, he understands the importance of it, and he delivers. Jones is one of those lubricants that keeps the team going. He’s glad to be in the major leagues and he may eventually find a home somewhere else, but being a major league player is a BFD and nothing to take lightly.

Scoring runs in the bottom of the First would be really nice this time. The habit of waiting until the fifth or sixth for relief pitchers to come in before being able to score runs is getting old.
