  1. If Hinch had a brain bigger than the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, he would pick some hot hitter out of A ball and promote him to the show like the Red Sox did with Tony Conigliaro from the NY-Penn in 1964. It worked then and it could work now. But he’ll never do something this brilliant. Grrrr…
  2. The words Avila and Evil sound a lot alike.
  3. I checked my Regal Cinema app this morning and realized I could go see ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ for the third time for only 53¢ because my monthly subscription fee covers the rest of it. I didn’t even think of a possible conflict with this game because I’ve somehow accepted that we’ve seen the best this team can offer already this year. I certainly had a lot more fun at the theater than I would’ve following this game.
  4. I guess that as a “consumer” the effect of all this on me is that instead of biting at the mlb.tv offer of the rest of the season for $34.99 I don’t feel motivated to push the button. This is a lesser product on the field and I can do fine with radio and don’t need to see it on TV too.
  5. Even though this is what I expected, it still feels like hoping for a bicycle at Christmas and getting underwear instead.
  6. As a seller instead of a buyer, I guess we can’t expect too much very soon, but I don’t think this team is going to be better and more fun to follow right now than it was 45 minutes ago. “It is what it is,“ is certainly true but, hopeful ignoramus that I am, I was expecting to feel better about all of this than I am. This continuing lesson in “deferred gratification” is tiresome. Oh well.
  7. I should never trust Elon Musk’s cluster blank disinformation platform.
  8. Think positive. We’re good enough, we’re smart enough, and gosh darn it, some people like us.
  9. Remember a couple days ago when people were wondering if we were “buyers?”
  10. It’s dispiriting getting back to scoring no runs - again - while the pitching is collapsing. I’m used to scoring no runs and the pitching being OK, but having two bad things happen at the same time is not pleasant.
  11. Instead of ignoring this game and discovering that we’re winning or have already won, I have followed it from the beginning, which seems to be bad luck, so as a public service, I will depart and hopefully return to a glorious victory celebration.
  12. I’m excited about Dillon Dingler. A guy with a rhymy poetic name like that has probably developed a chip on his shoulder because that’s the kind of thing you could get teased about as a kid. It’s not quite being “a boy named Sue” but he’s probably had to stand up for himself. I hope he’s gotten used to beating the crap out of people. If his parents moved around a lot, I hope he always spent the first day of school in the principal’s office.
  13. The good thing about skipping Flaherty’s spot today is that he can hit the ground running with another team immediately.
  14. Frank Howard? I remember him from when I was a kid. He was a BFD. Emphasis on the B.
  15. I’m glad I missed it. At least Maeda pitched well against a good team. If anything is going to happen it needs to happen soon. [EDIT] I only just now saw the thing about Kelly that happened to half an hour ago. I guess that’s “something.”
  16. At least we avoided the ignominious humiliation of being no hit. “Always look on the bright side of life, da da, da da da da da da…” — Life of Brian
  17. OK, I’m here, entertain the **** out of me.
  18. Unfortunately, I just checked in, but at least we’re not being no hit
  19. What losers. Don’t they know you’re supposed to do that naked and streak? Kids these days I swear…
