Just looking at stats from players in the past -aside from Babe Ruth who struck out a lot - many guys would walk 60 times and strike out 60 times. The strikeouts were low by today’s standards.

Glad this game is on Apple TV. At least I get something out of this subscription which fortunately my son pays for. Today I watched the first three episodes of “Sunny” which is based in Kyoto, Japan and the sets annd shots are amazing. Rashida Jones plays a tough American expatriate whose Japanese husband dies under suspicious circumstances and is assigned a robot friend for companionship by his dark, secretive corporation. She hates robots and enjoys saying “eat a ****” to them. She’s really charming.

I get the feeling that yesteryears’ out of shape and drunk half the time players who didn’t make it much past the age of 32 because they didn’t take good care of them at least weren’t injured all the time. I have no data to back this, but it’s just my off the cuff hunch.

American LEAGUE! American LEAGUE! I didn’t watch the game, but I saw some pictures and I don’t care for the uniforms. This is a multi billion dollar business they could’ve done better. I would’ve been happier if they were something like the Motor City uniforms and one team looked like the good guys from Tron and the other other team looked like the bad guys from Tron.

If people like it, fine. When it’s ordinary batting practice, it’s more authentic than a derby. The first game I saw when I was 12 was at Comiskey Park and watching Mantle and Maris during batting practice, now that was exciting. Wish it had been at Tiger Stadium, but when my dad’s Elks Club took us boys to a doubleheader they took us to Chicago.

Is there a different version of the puppy bowl going on during the home run derby tonight?

In my fantasy world, we wouldn’t be like the Mets because they wouldn’t have drug problems. But this is indeed a pretty big fantasy.

I wish we could draft a Darrell Strawberry and a Dwight Gooden in the same year without any of their attendant problems.

When my heart is pulling for them, but I’m not physically present through any media connection to follow them, they seem to do better. It’s kind of like Schrodinger‘s cat but when I open the box it’s alive.

I keep getting pitched stuff for hoodies that make hot, sunny, weather bearable, which I’m not sure is possible. One of the guys at the botanical garden I frequent wears one all the time when he’s out in the sun so I think I’m going to ask him about it.
