  1. 0-0 after one and the nailbiting “no-hitter“ fetish is put to rest.
  2. Dan Dickerson had a pretty raw critique of the A’s ownership for destroying 60 years of Oakland A’s tradition so he can go to “a city with no baseball tradition.“ Not exactly the corporate ass kissing line you would expect.
  3. It was an ugly game and even if we’d won, it would’ve been an ugly win, but I’m just kind of grateful it’s over.
  4. Rooker is dangerous… we’re lucky he didn’t win the game just then
  5. I would be really really happy if Torkelson could approach Dave Kingman numbers, but he won’t. He can’t seem to sustain even that. I thought that’s what he would do, but I don’t think he’ll ever get there.
  6. Tork 0-5 4 Ks. This guy is not growing on me.
  7. Colt Keith singles on a ground ball to center fielder JJ Bleday. Ryan Kreidler scores.
  8. I don’t exactly get that “oh boy something can happen” feeling even though it on occasion does happen.
  9. Tie game on wild pitch
  10. He called third strike on Tork was one of the worst. Lousy ump
  11. When I saw him sitting on the bench, I did a double take.
  12. Pop fly triple down the line ties it
  13. Tarik is getting squeezed.
  14. mlb.tv broadcasting a spate of Idaho specific ads right now and it’s ads for western wear, pawnshops, and bail bondsman. So proud…
  15. Oh well, at least we got a run
  16. We need a Weaver
  17. Holy moley he got out of it. I smell a barrage and tiger runs coming as a response.
  18. I mean, if you understand baseball, it’s fine but somebody who’s really casual about it would not write home about it, so far.
  19. This is not a particularly interesting game.
  20. Doesn’t look like a very well attended game. I saw a couple games there with a good friend when I would go up to the bay area, which would’ve been in ‘83 or ‘84 and he had season tickets second or third row on the third base side and I liked the park. It was not a bad experience and you could take the BART there, park the car somewhere down the line, easy access. During batting practice, I locked eyes with Ricky Henderson and I was just a chump in the stands and he stared me down because he’s competitive in everything even with morons he’s competitive and yeah, he definitely won. I was intimidated and almost thought I should be wearing a dress, “not that there’s anything wrong with that.“
  21. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and was grumpy as heck and didn’t follow this game very closely, especially after I saw we were down 3–0. Forever it seemed… then I picked up the phone 10 seconds after the slam. After the fact, I went back and watched that last inning on mlb.tv and noticed how jubilant and certain the crowd was that they were going to win. Their faces were glowing with a nearly childlike joy, and I almost felt bad for them, but only almost. I know what it’s like to feel crushed, and it was basically their turn. Baseball is a zero sum game, and there actually is crying in baseball, but not for us tonight.
  22. Detroit radio was too far away in Idaho back in 1988. In Indiana in the 1960s though I could pick up Boston radio pretty clearly and I remember listening to some guy who I think his name was Jerry Williams.
  23. You’re optimism is fetch, but you still can’t sit with us in the lunchroom.
