I’m not going to purchase doom and gloom about Meadows until I have to. So as far as I’m concerned, he’ll miss a week of spring training and be back in center field, chatting with the unicorns that typically hang on the berm and feeding them tangerine marshmallows.
In 1984 one of my best friends in Tucson sold part of the card collection he had inherited from his older brother that had multiples of 1956 Ernie Banks, Mickey Mantle, etc. for $2000 which is about $7500 today. Those were inspiring cards. He didn’t sell the entire collection. I’m not sure how many individual cards he sold because he still had a ton left over.
Slightly off-topic, but an older coworker of my son who buys boxes of cards every year had these extras and gave him gave them to my son today. Is this a standard issue card? Or a part of some special set?
I didn’t know that they were all free MLB games of the day although it didn’t make much difference I was out with a friend and only got to follow the game on at bat toward the end. So I’m watching the Yankees feed right now.
Of course it’s early spring. It doesn’t mean a lot, but a couple good innings from Casey Mize, and some hitting by Keith, Jung, and Dingler is certainly good to see.
This is that point in the game during this point early on in spring training when I’m not really sure which team is at bat because a lot of names are unfamiliar.
