Winning this game would be huge. There’s no way the Tigers could be considered the favorites for this game. Perhaps statistically they are due for some “pulling rabbits out of hats“ types of victories to make up for that bad string of 13 games.

I think this game might be exclusive to ESPN.

I had no idea that this was an issue. It’s amazing how little it took to stir people into a moral panic over something this minor although I guess it was any change from the past and enough to “raise people’s dander.”

So the Bristol Classic is rescheduled and the suspended game will start at 1 PM Eastern tomorrow. I don’t know if FOX is going to broadcast the game or not. It’ll be interesting to see how this cluster blank turns out and how much of a crowd shows up. [EDIT - my Yahoo weather app says there’s a 60% chance of rain at 1 PM but only around then]. If they do broadcast it, it won’t conflict with the Tigers game that begins at 5:10 PM on ESPN.

I guess you can chalk this Bristol fiasco up to unforeseen circumstances. But I’m sure it rains in Tennessee in the summer. I don’t know if they did a good job of figuring out drainage or if there’s no good way to deal with that totally in a downpour.

I’ve gotta tell you, demolition derby‘s are awesome. Making a vehicle worthy of that kind of punishment is an engineering and mechanical feat representing a significant achievement.

I am not relishing this happening. The pictures of moms sitting in the stands with their rain soaked children is heartrending.

You know this wasn’t a bad idea intrinsically, but the rain makes it a tremendously bad idea which is unfortunate. Stuff like this happens when people with lots of money are used to doing things and flattening every obstacle in their path, but the weather is an obstacle that doesn’t respect anyone’s hubris. They can’t allow players to get injured. These guys are worth millions of dollars.

They’re stopping play to throw sand on the infield where water is puddling up. This is absurd. The players are wiping off the bats on their jerseys.

[Note to self] When build stadium in Nashville make sure has roof.

It’s raining again heck wow Chase Burns strikes out a ton of guys, but he gets hit hard too.

It’s like a real game it might be fun.

Just checked Fox and it looks like there’s a countdown 20 minutes away, so maybe the game begins then. This might be fun for the spectacle of it alone when the game actually begins. I honestly can’t bear to listen to the broadcasters right now, though.

Wow, this game should’ve started two hours ago and might not begin for another hour and a half. Imagine sitting there with your wife and four children squirming the whole time. Imagine four cotton candies melting onto four tiny fists. I’m glad this is not my problem. I feel bad for the people who are enduring this and got excited about this possibility.

It’s like Lake Wobegon where all the children are above average and some of them even more so. They’re also good enough and hit well enough and gosh darn it we like them.

I was trying to watch the Erie game yesterday as well and the same stuff was going on. It was like the game was incidental to the chitchat they enjoyed more.

Yeah, the game in Bristol has been in delay for quite a while and probably will be for most of the next hour.

Just as an aside, tomorrow night’s game will be on ESPN and I’m just wondering how much time they’ll be talking about how excited they are for the NFL preseason during the baseball broadcast.

Never in doubt

All relievers are basically failed starters who were figured out, and it’s only a matter of time before they’re figured out as well again as relievers.
