  1. I like the earthquake prediction too. We had a 6.5 in Idaho a couple years ago. I’d never felt one before. What was strange was that although the floor did sort of move what was most noticeable was that there was a seismic wave that went through the air 2 or 3 feet above the floor as if you were in the ocean where a wave comes through and lifts you up and then sets you back down. People who were driving didn’t notice anything. But if you’re sitting dead still snd not moving it’s a big deal when you do.
  2. I saw a game at this ballpark a number of years ago when I was at a conference. We were treated to nice box seats. It was kind of antiseptic compared to the newer throwbacks to traditional parks. It was kind of like seeing a baseball game in a mall. But the amenities and the staff were phenomenal. Easily the most comfortable game I’ve ever witnessed anywhere even though it was lacking in other regards. It was of course 105° or something, but shortly before game time they retracted the roof and the ballpark still retained a very acceptable comfort level.
  3. I’m tired of losing. It’s time to get Jurassic on all these $&@?#%€!
  4. Wow, my radio feed is 5 pitches behind GameDay.
  5. It sucks how good teams have such an unfair advantage over lesser teams.
  6. I’m getting optimistic; when do playoff tickets go on sale? <ducks>
  7. Back in the day I’d be banning people and handing out tickets for shit like this. Now I even say shit. We don’t even have good trolls anymore. The old days were better.
  8. I’ve done that with a wiffle ball. But never with a baseball. Maybe these new sometimes irregular balls make this a greater possibility.
  9. Following this team is so hard. Maybe I need another hobby like an ant farm or needlepoint.
  10. I thought that even with the new dead ball we could loft a flyball that would be a homer. These Yankees are clearly a good team.
  11. Aside from being no-hit, the Tigers are being clobbered offensively. Right now not having no-hit perfect game tossed against them would be victory.
  12. And here I thought the Tigers TV broadcasters were not at the top of my list. I now have a newfound respect for them after listening to these Apple TV announcers.
  13. The Tigers are on Apple TV tonight too.
  14. Peacock is $4.99 a month. And they also do live cycling from Europe. Starting Sunday is eight days of Criterium du Dauphine then in July there’s 21 days of Tour de France and in August another 21 days of La Vuelta. They also have a lot of movies but like every streaming service that’s for the most part lost on me. And there’s a lot of TV shows which is similarly lost on me because I’ve become a 70-year-old teenager who thinks everything sucks.
  15. Taking 4 of 5 games against the best team in the division is really cool even if it is at home. I wouldn’t want to read too much into it. But it’s something to savor. Maybe even our guys will be able to reach the fences at Death Star Stadium in the Bronx, dead ball or not.
  16. https://www.houstonpress.com/news/four-houston-astros-among-thirty-most-hated-in-mlb-13478356 Baez is near the bottom of the “30 most hated players list” and the only current Tiger on the list which is culled from that arena of temperate rational discussion known as Twitter. As for former Tigers, Scherzer is way high on the list and Verlander included but way low.
  17. I haven’t been paying a lot of attention — I’ve been sick most of this month — and I only just now realized we’re in a new deadball era. I’m going back to the beginning of May on this thread because I assume that’s where the discussion might take place. But if anybody wants to summarize what’s going on with that and if that’s one of the reasons we’ve sucked I would appreciate it. Has MLB over corrected? I know Chuck @chasfhhas done some extensive research on the nature of the ball these last few years and I’m wondering if our hitters who seemingly over performed last year are underperforming in relation to the ball. I’m sure there’s other things like regression to the mean etc.
  18. That’s the very first episode of Monty Python! I watched it just a couple days ago.
