  1. Sometimes the body language is such that it appears that the uncoiling of motion creates a magnetic charge between the bat and the ball and a massive collision is certain.
  2. Glad we didn’t end up with someone like Anthony Santander. 190 Avg, 5 HR, 16 RBI, 28 Hits For the Blue Jays for almost $20 million a year for five years. He might hit a whole 20 home runs and drive in 65 runs this year wow. I feel bad for the Orioles fans, but the people running the franchise got what they deserved.
  3. "¡No Pasarán!" ("They Shall Not Pass!") was a rallying cry for the Republican forces during the Spanish Civil War, coined by Dolores Ibárruri, a prominent Republican politician.
  4. We should win this game because we have the best pitcher in baseball on the mound and we’re on a roll, but there’s no reason to think that the Red Sox are going to curl up and die. They kept answering last night and they are a proud team of professionals. I expect them to come out of the gate with tremendous fury like a waterspout that rises up to flatten resort homes on the Florida coast. Hopefully the Tigers have a great sea wall in Skubal and the offense will not go flat.
  5. Rightly or wrongly, and in fact, probably wrongly because we “bought Javy” it feels like daddy didn’t buy this team for us and that the team earned it. There’s a lot about this club that feels earned and not bought or given, even though it’s a corporate-owned entity that functions according to the tempos and the pulse rates of an impersonal economic machine. In the end, however, it feels miraculously personal and achieved through heavy lifting mediated by a lot of thinking and planning which has worked. What this club is doing is, I think, one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve ever had as a fan and it is exceeding all my expectations. Javy has been more or less endured than enjoyed in Detroit and witnessing this payoff now is amazing.
  6. That look on the catcher’s face of “you’re kidding me… again?“ was a priceless unmediated human response. We Tigers fans have been on the receiving end of that sharp stick poked in our own eye often enough that there is some gratification in it happening to others although I’m not exactly proud to feel this way but hey they’re competitors they’re grown-ups and the highs and the lows are a part of the game
  7. I’m sure fans of the Red Sox — and there are many great and astute fans of this team and others teams, let’s be fair — thought “wait until the Tigers play a real team and see what happens,” and we did. It is consummately fair to say that this is not a fluke.
  8. Thanks I think I’ve noticed it under construction.
  9. This is the wrong kind of six
  10. Nice collection, Riley
  11. What’s the big building on the skyline that’s all lit up and looks like something out of Tron?
  12. Yes, stop letting the Red Sox answer
  13. Stood there and admired his work
  14. You are the wind beneath my wings
  15. And he stood there like a house at the side of the road
  16. The Red Sox refuse to go gently into that good night
