I took a nap and I’m in a better mood now and will probably at least start watching this game, but if Skubal gives up a first inning home run I’m outta here, finished, cooked, over, exhausted, tired, drained, spent, worn out, beat, wearied, frazzled, wiped out, fatigued, bushed, burnt-out, broken down, and neither thrifty, brave, clean, nor reverent. Grrr…

My magic carpet isn’t flying as well as it used to. I don’t feel a lot of enthusiasm for this team right now, but it’ll probably come back.

Hmmm… nine hours in a row without a single post on any thread in the Tigers board and 17 hours on this particular thread. We have sort of reached the nadir. I hope the band snaps back and stings our adversaries.

The one good thing about this great disappointment is that it occurred early enough in the day that I didn’t have to sit in expectation like a puppy waiting to be fed in relation to the position of the sun in the sky. Got the bad news over with quickly and early in the day.

I don’t know what to make of this. If any game seemed on the face of it a done deal this game should’ve been. It’s quite possibly an unfortunate blip on the screen, but in the larger context since briefly before the All-Star break 7–16 I’m not sure how many bold moves before the deadline could’ve affected this outcome for the better. It’s pretty disheartening.

This is officially a beat down.

No, I’ve barely scratched the surface.

It’s irksome - though to be expected - that no MLB team is a pushover. Looking at a schedule and relishing facing a certain opponent is usually a fool’s errand. I wish I would stop falling for this assumption. All teams are a pit of snakes out of an Indiana Jones movie. I thought if any team would be a pushover it would be the Twins who by expectations should be in a hospital room right next to the morgue but and this is not the case. We’re going to be facing a lot of AL Central Division opponents in the near future who are no longer treading water to the degree they were a few weeks ago. We’re headed into a decisive stretch.
