CMRivdogs
It looks like the local blackouts are still in place. Personally as long as they continue their deal with TMobile I’m happy
chasfh
Local blackouts must be in place to protect the local option. Personally, I wouldn't walk into the next room to see most of that network's content. Outside of the occasional decent doc and MLB Now only when Brian Kenny is on, the whole network is seat-of-the-pants boosterism, because they are just too close to the people in it to see it any other way. Most of the ex-players they have on there are just that: guys who knew enough to make the major leagues at one time, but don't know enough about the overall game in general to be interesting or informative. I think the link is for MLB Network and their shows being available via the MLB site for a fee. Any games shown on MLB Network will still be under local blackout rules as they were when I had it on Directv from what I recall anyways. kdog
Quote “We believe that we have made substantial progress on resolving our issues with Comcast, and we have the intention of fully documenting and executing an agreement with Comcast to broadcast our RSNs in the very near term,” said Diamond lawyer Brian Hermann in a bankruptcy court hearing on Wednesday afternoon. A Comcast spokesperson declined comment. Looks like Comcast and Bally will have a deal soon.

The big question is what platform will replace Bally. Does someone like Amazon sweep in and take over the nuts and bolts of the broadcast. Will there be some sort of an agreement between Illitch and Gores to start their own platform. Is there interest from Dan Gilbert (or someone similar to get involved)

What this actually mean for fans within the market is another question outside of possible higher rates.

I think that is the fall back, but my spit ball guess would guess that in stronger markets like Detroit's, someone - mostly likely the local team or some created subsidiary org , will end up buying the rights before they go back to MLB. Tigeraholic1
Nothing will change, this is a restructuring just like they did with Pistons and Red Wings. Bally will broadcast Tigers games in 2025.

If you guys are lucky, what will happen in Detroit will be the same thing that is happening in Chicago now that NBC Sports Chicago has closed down: a new very local RSN will rise in its ashes, and the games will also air on one of the dot-two antenna channels. That way, not only would you not have to fight a bug-filled app to watch the games, you wouldn’t have to even subscribe to an MPVD to get access to them. John_Brian_K
Start a network Illitch, Tigers and Red Wings, negotiate with Gores for Pistons...NFL will never be in that bag, but should be able to make money off that network with 3 majors locally. tiger2022
I stream everything. I don't have cable or direct TV. I have Pluto TV, Roku, a fee other free apps, and stream online any sporting event I want to watch. It's not very tough at all. There really isn't anything worth paying for on television. John_Brian_K
Get basic no HD channels with my internet for 90.00 a month through WOW and a ton of streaming services, some I pay for some I am on accounts with others with, also Samsung TV's these days have like 3000 channels on them free of charge. I have seent plenty of good movies/shows on those free channels when scrolling. All kinds of cool random stuff also, TV in other languages, they have like 20 channels dedicated to just peaceful sounds with a fire by a lake or in the woods or a rain shower, a lighting storm in the mountains...stuff like that. Also music videos. All kinds of stuff that just comes with the TV...even some sports stuff. I probably have access to enough content to keep me busy for 4-5 life times TBH and I still only watch 3-4 shows, a few movies over and over and sports.
