slothfacekilla Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Suter got a tap in to make it 2-1 at least. Edvinsson looks good to me, played some good defense on Tkachuk and of course Tkachuk has to go after him a little after the buzzer Quote
slothfacekilla Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Despite this being a pretty boring game I've liked what I've noticed from Edvinsson Quote

I also saw him get out-physicaled for the puck right next to the Detroit goal... I don't remember who took it from him but Simon ended up on his knees... I'm going to maintain that you'll see his skills but he needs another 10 pounds of muscle on that frame in order to reach the top of his game in the NHL. Half and half upper body and legs: More strength up top to absorb hits and legs to keep his skates underneath him... That, and just the usual experience... IMO. Quote

Expand I hope Edvinsson can add some bulk to his frame, he makes some strong plays but there's definite room on his frame for more muscle and it shows against NHLers like you said. At least he's not Oesterle and Maataa tonight, both are -3 oof Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Their power play however... Looks beyond putrid this evening... Quote
slothfacekilla Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) And now Edvinsson may be hurt after a questionable Gudas hit, though I didn't really catch a replay Looks like Seider is taking a shift with Haag so doesn't seem good... Edited March 21, 2023 by slothfacekilla Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Yeah... Oof... -3 I'm blaming it on Oesterle although I wasn't particularly watching him closely... I saw Maatta turn it over at least once... Quote

lordstanley Posted March 21, 2023 Author Posted March 21, 2023 If the Wings can come back and win tonight …they will have the same number of wins this season as the Vancouver Canucks. 😞 Quote

1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) The whole team needs to add muscle. They've been knocked off the puck almost to a man tonight, have lost almost all corner battles and face-offs (or at least it seems that way...) and it also seems that Florida takes the puck off of Wings players almost at will... They're not a playoff-ready team until the whole team gets stronger/ tougher/ etc... Edited March 21, 2023 by 1984Echoes Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 And I just watched Simon lay out a hit (on Gudas) near the boards and he (Simon) ended up on his ass... Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 OK... 50/50 Maatta & Oesterle sucking it tonight... Quote
slothfacekilla Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 I hope they can draft a good player this upcoming draft Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 I think Maatta operates better as the 2nd defensive puck-handler (with a Seider, or Hronek, or Chiarot) and not so much as the primary (with Oesterle...). Too much attention on him... just a guess. Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 I want David Reinbacher... RH'ed D. Supposed to be excellent (responsible) defensively and an excellent puck-mover/ passer... Quote
1984Echoes Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 6' 2" so not huge but good enough for a defenseman... Quote
