Saw this and immediately felt the need to put this table together, ranked by 2020 firearm mortality rate, and using color-coding to show just how weighted to one party the problem really is.

I'm being generous by including governors here because the gun legislation comes from the state houses and senates, and not out of the governor's mansion.

I realize you post this to slant the info but if you want to be accurate you would need to break your graph down farther.  How many of these gun deaths come from big cities?  Big cities are where you find your gangs, unlawful gun owners and most of your gun related deaths.

And yet the big cities are mostly in blue states which have less gun crime than red states.

I agree. There are too many gangs and unlawful gun owners terrorizing the big cities in Mississippi, Wyoming and Alaska

Do you ever think about what you would do if you were in a normal situation and started hearing shooting?    Like when you are in a grocery store if you heard it from the other side of the building how you would get out?   I think about that all the time.

Ever since the Station nightclub fire in Rhode Island (The Great White fire),  I ALWAYS check to see where the closest exits are whenever I go to a concert.   That place was fully engulfed in less than 5 minutes and most of the people died because everyone went to one exit which got jammed.   One of the audience members ran towards the stage and THROUGH the initial fire because he knew there was an open exit at the back of the stage and snow banks on the ground outside,  he did not get seriously burned and lived.

Wish I didn't have to think about such things.

Thanks man,  I was thinking New Mexico and Nevada are our blue states there's a ton of red on there.

Glad I'm not volunteering to defend that shit seems like a bad plight

Archie would not try to get out.  He would find the shooter and take him out with one shot.

That the cities in red states is seen as an indictment on Democrats is quite hilarious.   Like those cities aren't in those states and subject to the laws of those states.  Why aren't red state governments enacting policies at the state level do deal with issues within their states?

Dog whistle much?

How are some of the states near the top lacking big cities?

Exactly how is the info "slanted"? It's firearms deaths by state, and political affiliation of their legislatures. It's all very straightforward information. What part do you not believe?

Cheyenne is not a place I want to be alone at night.

Cheyenne is a neat little town in spots. It's like "Milwaukee" to Denver.

I never think about it, and I live in THE bogeyman city.

Public mass shootings are so rare it's not even worth gaming out what to do if it happens. The only sure thing that happens during a mass shooting is chaos. Your only job is to hide or get the hell out of the way. You don't want to be the guy who starts shooting at a perp and ends up killing a bystander by complete accident. You wouldn't want that on your soul.

As I've often complained on this board, particularly during COVID, the red state I live in has worked overtime to try and take authorities away from County Judges and Mayors and vest more power in the state.

So yeah, there's absolutely no problem in ensuring that the state gets their fair share of the blame in terms of outcomes.
