He did NOTHING of the sort, and your accusation that he did is unfair.

I think you should apologize.

Agree to disagree. He is my Lions buddy, we have great convos outside of the politcal forum.

Nice try. I specifically said in my post that I don't condone violence and don't wish harm upon Mr. Thompson or any insurance executive.

Speaking of justifying assassinations, remember those hang Mike Pence chants from MAGA rioters and the hangman's noose they brought to the capitol on January 6th. I do. And had they actually got their hands on Pence, Pelosi, or any number of politicians that they, those folks would have in all likelihood been killed.

Trump defended Jan. 6 Capitol rioters chanting hang Mike Pence

Do you realize the gallows were not at the capital but over a quarter of a mile away, and didn't have the ability to hang anyone? Further, who built it, and who took it down? Just a few unanswered questions.

A quarter mile away is only the length of fewer than four football fields. It's not like it's a different area code.

It's a quarter of a mile as the crow flies, but to hang someone with these gallows you might need to swim too. Dragging someone from the capital around the city streets which is probably more than a mile to the gallows is probably not going to happen before someone stops it.

Then there is the question of how these gallows showed up to begin with. Has to weigh enough you would need a truck, and maybe a forklift. Unless built piece by piece, which takes time. Wouldn't someone alert the cops people are erecting gallows? One would think. And why hasn't anyone been found or charged who did it?

Does the distance at which you attempt to kill someone matter now? Pretty sure that gallow and noose were specifically meant for any elected officials they could get their hands on.

and the convenient thing about hanging is that all you really need is the rope - the gallows is quite optional. I doubt many lynchings failed for lack of being able to find something to throw a rope over.

There was a reason Pence would not get into the SS car.

I seriously believe all Trumpers have developed a serious case of convenient memory loss

I am sure these are mostly good guys… Oh wait, these are future dem voters, silly me!

Trained criminal gangs from Chile, Colombia and Venezuela are using visa waiver programs or are entering the country illegally to use high-technology alarm system jammers, drones and tracking devices to steal things like cash and high-end jewelry from Oakland County residents.

I always thought the gallows was just for show.  I really doubt there were any plans to use it. I am not condoning anything that happened that day or the events that led to it.  I just don't think the gallows was anything to be concerned about beyond ugly symbolism.

When you have a gallow with a noose outside the capitol and you're chanting threats about hanging the Vice President of the United States, what else are we supposed to think. If I showed up with a gun and chanted a threat at someone about shooting them, that would be taken seriously. So I don't understand why this one would be dismissed.

But here’s the thing, Lee, …if you’re in an African-American neighborhood, and you hanging nooses from a tree, and chanting some ugly, ugly things, are the people in that neighborhood not right if they’re feeling threatened?
If groups of people are carrying torches through a Hebrew section of a city, chanting “Jews will not replace us“, are those people not right to feel threatened?

Setting up gallows, while you’re chanting, “hang Mike Pence”, while you’re yelling, “where is Nancy Pelosi”, …this is absolutely threatening behavior. Dismissing it as “nothing but show” is really diminishing how bloody awful that display is/was.

What they did to Mike Pence was inexcusable and threatening.  I just didn't think the gallows were practical or would be used for anything.  If they wanted to hang him, they could have done so without the gallows. I don't think there was a plan to hang him, but all it takes is one crazy person to do something and Trump did nothing stop the rants ot the riot.  In fact, he seemed to enjoy it .  That is where my focus lies.

And that's why you can't treat the gallows as an empty threat.
