I always think of Dawson as an Expo.

Yeah probably depends alot on your age, as somebody born in 82 I think of him as a Cub since that's who he was with when I really started watching and following baseball. Plus watching the Cubs alot on WGN as a kid him and those Cubs teams were kinda my first real exposure to baseball aside from the Tigers so they made an impression on me.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame is planning to evaluate Andre Dawson’s request to change the cap on his Cooperstown plaque from the Montreal Expos to the Chicago Cubs. Dawson has long believed that Wrigley Field and the bright spotlight around the Cubs helped energize and extend his legendary career.

Not as much as the 1987 baseball did.

Vladimir Guerrero

Gosh that guy was so much fun to watch.  Its too bad he didn't have more of a national audience other than his almost daily appearance on ESPN SportsCenter highlights.

It’s funny seeing some of those names with those teams.  I didn’t realize Cepeda bounced around as much as he did.

The Padres have more but some of those guys were already made men by the time they joined them, what makes the Expos unique is how many either got their starts there or broke out there.

It sounds like Mookie Betts will be moving in from RF to be the Dodgers' 2B.  I don't think OF moving in to the IF is all that common.

Following in the footsteps of the legend that is Rian Rayboughrn

He started there, though, I believe.  Think the BoSox moved him to the OF cause they had Pedroia and Bogarts in the infield.

I could also be horribly wrong, too.

He already did.  He played 70 games at 2B and 16 at SS last year.

I love Ohtani, but $500+ million for a guy who may never pitch effectively again, seems excessive. Hard to quantify the marketing impact he would have for a team, though.

Agreed, from an on the field standpoint it just seems like way too much money to throw at somebody who if he doesn't pitch will have to resort to playing a corner position. He probably would be really good there, but still that limits his value greatly.

Also aside from this past season he really hasn't been a true offensive force relatively speaking posting a career OPS+ of 140 prior to this year. That's obviously really good but if he indeed ends up just being a corner OF that number wouldn't make him worth close to 40 to 50 million a year. Now if you think he is more likely to be like he was in 2023 where he was at 184 then it starts to become worth it but that's not something I would bank on for a player in their 30s.

But this is just for on the field worth, like you said who knows how much money he would bring in from a marketing stand point and if you're a major market team that doesn't need to maximize your WAR to $$ output then it might just be worth it for you.

I agree on Ohtani.  He'll probably be a great hitter for a long time, but rumored contracts being thrown around suggest that he'll continue to be a two-way player which seems very questionable.
