gehringer_2 Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 If the clip is any indication, Drew has changed his delivery since his Tiger days. He use to come way over the top, his delivery here was more 3/4. Quote

Career to date earnings of around $52M. Has a nice assortment of authentic game worn jerseys to display. A World Series ring. Not bad. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 There are also a fairly large number of conventions. Some companies used to hold corporate manager meetings in LV as well. I still think it's a place where spouses wouldn't mind taking along if the trip is extended by a couple of days. Casino's hold no excitement for me, I tend to be picky about expensive concerts, Blue Man Group...been there, done that...next. I've been to the Valley of Fire and the Grans Canyon. Spending a couple hours at the ballpark while the wife is suffering thru another corporate dinner or meeting beats hanging out playing quarter slots because I'm old and cheap. Quote

Isn't it the "convention capital of the world" or something like that? I know my wife was there for some education conference last year. I would have tagged along if it weren't for having our own kids that still needed tending to. And along with all of the current activities that conventions/corporations have at their disposal already in and around LV, baseball just becomes another entertainment option. Its just kind of funny how suddenly gambling has turned into an asset for sports when before it was either considered good but don't dare speak of it that way or the worst crime against sporting humanity. I guess all it took was to figure out how to profit from it and, voila, sports leagues and gambling become two peas in a pod. Quote

Conventions are interesting in that there are often events that corporate participants often set up during the evening separate from the Convention itself. And speaking from experience, stadiums and sporting events provide ideal settings for companies to market to clients and whatnot. Put another way, the fact that Vegas is the convention capital of the US is a net positive for a baseball team based just off the strip as they will likely market themselves and grab business from corporate clients looking for space to rent as a Hospitality Suite. I would guess that they would do better on that front than almost any other franchise in the league. Quote

Hmmmm...., the suite angle could be an interesting point and difference for this particular stadium from the rest of MLB. Quote
LongLiveMaroth Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 I know this is 7 minutes long and about the White Sox but this guy needs his own radio show. I feel like he had to have that prewritten about Clevinger. Quote
buddha Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 i think a lot of us could do that rant about the tigers... 1 Quote
RandyMarsh Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Getting no hit for 6 innings then scoring 10+ runs in the 7th seems likes one of those crazy things that may never have been done before or atleast been decades since the last time but nope, happened less than 2 years ago. Never would've thought that. Quote

lordstanley Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Should have been automatic refunds given to all fans in attendance due to this one play alone. Quote
buddha Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 that team has so many issues. its fun to watch them implode. it takes serious work to be worse than the tigers. Quote

mtutiger Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Took it upon myself to watch the entire Top of the 7th of the White Sox game... The pitching stood out, obviously, but the bad defense and just letting Tampa runners run at will stood out as well. On paper, they are more talented than the Tigers and Royals... but clearly the dysfunction in that org, top to bottom, is overriding whatever advantage they have on the field at the moment Quote
CMRivdogs Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Reinsdorf should have sold the team long ago. Quote

But yeah, that's all on Jerry they value loyalty above everything else. but even john paxson got fired eventually. if they bottom out, hahn is likely to get the boot. kenny was booted upstairs back when they traded sale, eaton, etc. kenny didnt want to do that and wanted to keep trying to win every season. it would not surprise me if hahn gets fired and kenny moves back into the gm role. jerry brought larussa's old ass back from the grave, i wouldnt put it beyond him to put kenny back as gm and make larussa team president. or just make "hall of famer" harold baines the manager. lol. casimir Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 The Pirates are 10 games ahead of the Cardinals through April. I wonder what the return would have been for plunking $1 down on a bet for that on Opening Day Eve? 2 Quote
RandyMarsh Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Bryce Harper had TJ surgery the day before Thanksgiving and he is scheduled to make his return this week. Obviously being a position player changes things but still that's crazy to be ready to go less than 6 months after the surgery. 2 1 Quote
chasfh Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 Man, the Cardinals with yet another late-game loss. Let the Angels score three in the ninth on two homers to blow the game. They’re now 10-21 and in last place by at least three games. Gotta tell ya: I like it. It’s about time for those guys, finally. 1 Quote
