lordstanley Posted April 7, 2023 Author Posted April 7, 2023 All the games against the Sabres seem to be high scoring. At least the Wings are scoring some of their own tonight. But trail 6-5 late in 3rd. Quote
lordstanley Posted April 7, 2023 Author Posted April 7, 2023 Hate to be bearer of bad news, but the Wings are going to be officially eliminated the playoffs within the hour. Florida, NYI and Pitt are all winning big. Quote
lordstanley Posted April 7, 2023 Author Posted April 7, 2023 Wild game. Wings twice have come back from 2-goals deficits 6-6 headed to OT. Quote

Currently in the 11th draft spot with 1 point either way sending them up or down a spot. 4 games to go. Quote

lordstanley Posted April 8, 2023 Author Posted April 8, 2023 The Wings bow meekly, lose 5-1 to Pittsburgh. Quote
lordstanley Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 It’s the Wings’ home finale, Fan Appreciation. night, and they’re losing 3-0 after 1. Quote

1984Echoes Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Needs to be renamed Draft Positioning Night (Hope you Fans are good with that ToNight...) Losing 5-0 in the 2nd... Wings have two really tough games to close out the season, on the road... Vancouver has two winnable games to close, and Washington has two difficult games to close but their last game is home against NJ so maybe they can eek out a win. If the Wings play their cards right... they may be able to slip into the 8th draft spot pre-lottery... Quote
1984Echoes Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Wings performed their duties, like troopers... Losing 6-1. Washington wins tonight against the Islanders 5-2. Wings are required to lose their last two games on the road against Tampa & Carolina... Capitals & Canucks are required to each get 2 points total in their last two games... And all will be well... lordstanley Posted April 11, 2023 Author Posted April 11, 2023 Wings will be in the Bedard sweepstakes. They can’t finish with more points than. Ottawa now so will be in the bottom 11. Quote
buddha Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 we are all hawks fans tonight. a hawks win makes pittsburgh less likely to make the playoffs and the hawks less likely to get conor bedard. Quote
buddha Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 hawks win! hawks win! johnson scores an empty net goal with 50 seconds left to put the hawks up 3. crosby cross checks him after the play. why? because cindy crosby (and evgeni malkin) - despite being one of the most talented players in nhl history will always ALWAYS be a little bitch. always has been. always will be. lordstanley Posted April 12, 2023 Author Posted April 12, 2023 4-1 loss tonight in Carolina. Playing out the string. Quote

Awesome! If I'm looking at the tiebreakers correctly, the Penguins now can't catch Florida and can only beat off NYI if the Pens win their final game and the Islanders lose in regulation. So we are rooting for: The Wings to lose their last game (at Tampa: guarantees 9th draft spot or better, pre-lottery), The Caps to win their last game (at home vs. Devils: pushes Wings up to the 8th draft spot, pre-lottery, to finish the season), The Pens to win their last game (wait for it...), and The Islanders to lose their last game in regulation (pushes the NYI pick to #16 with the NYI's out of the playoffs... also, Calgary and Nashville wins get this pick to about its optimal, at #14). Sounds like a plan. Edited April 12, 2023 by 1984Echoes Quote
buddha Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 im torn between the isles pick and the penguins missing the playoffs. Quote
1984Echoes Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 I don't give a crap about the Penguins. I could care less if they are in or not in the playoffs. I care about the Wings (Islanders) pick. That's it. So the Penguins need to win. This is easy for me. Quote
Shinzaki Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 We need the Pens and Caps to win and the Islanders to lose...along with us...to maximize those draft odds. Be hilarious if the Islanders finished 16th and jumped to 6th and we finished 8th and jumped to #1. That would be enough lotto luck to last a lifetime Quote
Shinzaki Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Oh wait...that Islanders pick is conditional. Still...if it rolls to next year, it would be the Canucks pick...right? That would give us three 1st round picks... Quote
