polling shows that no group of americans think voting access is an important issue.  this includes black americans.

Well then by all means if the perfectly-educated people don't care about their own democracy then make it as hard as possible I mean really who gives a shit nobody cares anyway amirite?

Right, and it's certainly not democracy that's good for them, since polling shows that no group of americans think voting access is an important issue.  this includes black americans.

because they have voting access now and there are other issues that are more important to them.

just because people don't recognize a threat doesn't mean it isn't there.  And like we used to say in Nixon's day, "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you."

i agree with you.  i was responding to chas's point about how we all have great access so of course we dont think its a problem.  ok, but nobody seems to think its a big problem...because its not.

as noted, i think its not an earth shattering problem.  we are not descending into fascism because we have to put our drivers license number on an envelope if we choose to mail in our ballots. most people find it quite easy to vote.  almost everyone (99.99%) has access to voting.  its not hard.  its not jim crow.

that said, that doesnt mean it cant be made easier and more accessible to people.  many of the ideas in the bill are fine and might even improve the situation.  and anything that proposes to end partisan gerrymandering is a good thing.  THAT is a scourge on american politics.

I said nothing remotely like this. You certainly know that and everyone else can see that, so I’m guessing this is simply you lashing out at me.

that's what i took from the totality of all your posts.

it could be that i interpreted them incorrectly considering how much snark they contain.  🙂

Isn't there an election this year? Can't nominate a Justice during an election year right? Seriously, I was nervous Biden would pick Michele Childs, who has a more concerning background on labor rights issues. I am very excited to see he picked Judge Brown Jackson instead. She seems like a terrific nomination to the Supreme Court. Also cool that the Repubs are forced to watch a black woman get nominated and go through with nothing they can do about it.

She'll be a strong advocate for LGBTQIA rights and the marginalized, which you'd think Lindsey Graham would like.

she's the worst of the three to be nominated but she should get through on a party line vote.  maybe pick collins off.

they must know she'll get through with only dem votes because there isnt much chance she'll get more than one or two republicans at most.

childs would have been a better pick and would have been an easier confirmation.  this will make the left happier for sure.
