Pretty good response from KBJ on an absurd question.

She answered it a lot better than I would have. We'll talk about my faith when you tell everyone your boyfriend's name. Just as Lindsey Graham being gay is of no mind or business to anyone else, neither is her faith.

I felt about Clinton the way so many people feel about Trump: Why don't they see he is snake oil salesman? Now the huge difference is that Trump is a snake oil salesman who is also a terrible, malicious, bigoted, dangerous leader. Clinton was just a snake-oil salesman who was personally venal but otherwise not a horrible political leader. But the Dems still should not have allowed him to stay in office after lying to the GJ. And the tragedy was that as goofy as Al Gore was in public as a campaigner, he probably would have been a much more competent President than Shrub and likely would have been re-elected running as the incumbent. But the average Democrat will still never admit that the party was wrong. Granted Starr was wrong to have ever made it about sex, but as they say two wrongs don't make a right - though ironically in this case that is exactly what they did make - a GOP presidency. :classic_laugh:

I didn't really follow politics much back then, but I really disliked and distrusted Clinton from the beginning.  Clinton was a pig, but pretended to a decent person publicly because that's what his supporters wanted.  Trump doesn't have to pretend because his core supporters like that he is an asshole.  I think the main difference between Clinton and Trump was that Clinton was smart and Trump is a moron (intellectually).

I agree. I'm at that age where I want to tell someone who asks that question that I'm a non practicing Druid...

these hearings are just about talking points.  the gop is getting their talking points in for the next election cycle: crt, soft on crime, crt, soft on crime.  cruz brought up the 1619 project for god's sake!  the democrats are slobbering all over her like she's the greatest person who ever lived and praising themselves for putting a black woman on the bench, getting their message across: equity, diversity, we love black people, gop is racist.

they arent there to ask questions and they dont care how she answers, its all about getting their message across and the press will cover it.  im surprised cruz hasnt asked her about trans athletes.  whatever issue will poll well for republicans is what they will "ask" her about.

she's doing what she needs to do: stay neutral, say youre committed to "stare decisis", and dont say anything remotely revealing.  its a dog and pony show.  she'll be confirmed on party lines with a couple republicans jumping over and voting for her.

I particularly liked Sen Whitehouse' showing of conservative dark money opposing these nominations (looking at you Mrs Thomas)...waiting for the counter argument.

The Teddy Cruz show won't win any awards...he got owned pretty good. I guess they let anyone on the Law Review in Harvard.

Just because it’s “his job” doesn’t mean he’s any less of an asshole for doing it. You don’t get off the hook for being a jerk because it’s expected.

Is it his job? Or is it just what is expected from craven Senators who are delusional enough to think they can become President?

I caught about fifteen minutes of the testimony today, during Tom Cotton's turn at playing out his delusional dreams of the Presidency. All of it is just worthless kabuki theater. Just get the votes over with, let the 50 Dems + Murkowski and Collins vote for her, and stop wasting our time.

His job is to please the people who voted for him and they eat that shit up.

I get it. I guess my point is that the Senate doesn't have to work this way and, collectively, it's the fault of the people who elect these clowns for how worthless it has become.

There's a reason successful and relatively popular politicians like Chris Sununu and Doug Ducey aren't running in an otherwise great year for Republicans... the Senate isn't a place for people who want to actually accomplish things other than expelling hot air

Ugh

Did he say her name is a mouthful and ask if there’s a regular nickname he can use instead?  Did he ask whether she has a lot of brothers and sisters? Did he say her hair is soooo pretty? Did he ask how she could afford to go to college?  Did he brag that he went to a soul food restaurant once and it was surprisingly OK?

And did he end up saying, “I was only trying to be nice, I didn’t mean anything by it”?
