great bit by Ben Sasse today:

I saw that and it's more true today than 30 plus years ago when news departments (TV and radio, when serious newsrooms existed) started lobbying courts for cameras.

I haven't checked statistics lately, but love to see a report on the states or localities that approved them fared in the long run.

This guy has zero shame. It’s like he gets off on being as unlikable as possible to everyone.  His own family hates him.  Dogs don’t like him. Trump hates him. Trump fans hate him.

It's the effects of Diet Dr Pepper addiction...

I don't remember any of these guys asking sentencing questions to Trump's nominees. Probably because none of them had any real life experience. Much like the Senators asking the questions.

he was totally right.   He said it right next to Fed Cruz who was caught checking out his twitter menchies right after his performance.

He called out John Kennedy yesterday for his phoney Foghorn Leghorn routine as well....

People like to rag on Sasse, but that clip of him talking about cameras shows that he's a lot more self-aware about how dysfunctional his body is than almost everyone else in his caucus.

Clarence Thomas hasn't been released from the hospital and rumors are going hot.    Wonder what's up?

Infection - not flu, no recent surgery.

Just by probabilities:

Type II diabetes related? MRSA?

He's having a Ginnyectomy. It's very hard to remove.

This is good news and I would say that about any of the justices on the SCOTUS. It is very disappointing to read some of the comments attached to the above tweet. The lack of civility in political commentary is appalling.

When you drink all that Coke, diabetes becomes a real problem. Seriously though, glad he is feeling better and got out of the hospital. I wouldn't wish illness or death on anyone, whether I like them or not. Rest up Justice Thomas.

FWIW, I find the news to be neither bad nor good as I have literally no feelings toward him, the person.

I will say that he is a man of 73 years, so whatever happens, that's not a bad run.

I share your view that I don't have any feelings about him as a person one way or the other.  Usually when elderly public figures, even ones that I liked, reach the end (which he probably hasn't), I typically start reflecting on my own life.  When I think of Thomas, I think of 1991 which was a good time in my life.  I was at my peak athletically, the Tigers were hitting the ball hard and I had plenty of time to enjoy it!  Seriously, that is how I remember him.

Strangely, when I think of Anita Hill, I think of my current life since we work in the same department (We have had only a couple of very brief conversations over the years).  So, in a way, I associate Thomas with a more youthful time in my life and Hill with my current old age.  😃

all that unnecessary handwringing about her getting confirmed.  she was always going to get confirmed unless she said something crazy, which she didnt.

i hope corey booker cries fake tears of joy over it.  you can always count on corey to be overemotional and ridiculous for the cameras.

But she doesn't know what a woman is.

that's just politics.  crt, crime, and transpeople.  a trifecta of issues that play well for republicans.  it had nothing to do with her.

if the republicans could have resurrected someone from 30 years ago to say she did something wrong in high school, believe me they would have!

I know.  I was being sarcastic.  I have a MAGA friend who was up in arms about her response.
