UMIDs have to be eight characters or less, all letters. Which makes life difficult for the John Smiths of the world. RIght - that's an office inbox. Not to mention you don't put your title in your real email at UM because you pretty much keep it forever while titles come and go.

"The Conference also reviewed photos and videos from the public domain (and thus available to the University) that show the staff member dressed similarly to University coaches standing adjacent to and communicating with coaches during games in timeframes in which the impermissible scheme occurred. One photo was taken from the staff member’s since-deleted Instagram account showing him during the October 2, 2021 game at Wisconsin standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the University’s then-defensive coordinator. The photo shows the coordinator focused on the field and the staff member looking intently in the direction of the opposing sideline. There is also video of the staff member watching the opposing sideline during the November 26, 2022 game at Ohio State and then gesturing to the Michigan defense in reaction to the signals being provided to the opposing offense. The Conference also reviewed a video of the staff member during the December 31, 2022 game against TCU standing shoulder to shoulder with the University’s then-defensive coordinator and talking to him while intently watching what was happening on the field and/or on the TCU sideline." So in the Wisconsin game.... a staff member.... in Michigan clothing..... is pictured on the sideline.... next to other coaches? And the OSU video shows him standing on the sideline.... facing the other sideline (i.e., the field)...... and giving signals to others..... And the TCU game... he was on the sideline again..... and he was talking to others...... while "intently" watching the game...... What??? all of which would be the legal part of his job. That is pretty nuts. Edited November 10, 2023 by gehringer_2
Deleterious
Didn't I read they could only give a 2 game suspension? Anything higher needed some sort of vote. Did they get the vote? Or was this BS from the start?

Right, Michigan has never denied that Stalions was on the payroll. That’s what staff do -watch games and talk to other coaches.

I’ve been scrolling through the letter to see the definition of JGEC, but haven’t found it yet. Probably ends in “Executive Committee” for the EC part. MichiganCardinal
A point I saw on Twitter that is actually pretty funny and probably at least a sound legal hypothetical surrounding the penalty to “the institution, but not Jim Harbaugh” Jim resigns as HC, they name 84-year-old Jack Harbaugh as HC. Jack’s first move is hiring Jim Harbaugh as his Assistant HC. Jack then accepts the B1G’s suspension, steps aside, and names Jim the acting HC for the rest of the season. lordstanley
Hmm, Cowherd saying someone within the “Michigan family” might have been the one who first notified the BIG. And that the people within Michigan who knew about Stalions might be wider than previously thought. Also suggests that Michigan is unified behind Harbaugh for now, but that could be fluid if things get even messier or if Michigan starts losing games this season. He also heard that it could be a 3-game suspension, so he got that right. Does call this whole thing silly, overblown, a suspension deliberately disruptive and a very personal vendetta against Harbaugh. Also says this will be very emotional for the players and how will they not unravel, even though they are a great team. Cowherd is no hater, by the way. Jason_R
Again, I don’t know what to think about this. That may sound like an empty threat, but the fact it was even discussed should tell you how angry Michigan is right now about how Petitti has handled this. The process that led to Harbaugh’s three-game suspension was a clumsy execution of mob justice, and it is by no means over. Michigan is expected to take the Big Ten to court Friday night to try to allow Harbaugh to coach Saturday. (A Michigan spokesperson declined to comment publicly Friday night.) Michigan should be angry. Petitti fell for the dodge. He got suckered into thinking he is standing up for the integrity of the game, when he is really just revealing how little he knows about college football. The Big Ten commissioner suspended Harbaugh for three games, including the two most important ones of the season, for a sign-stealing scheme, even though:
