Crazy Cat Gentleman
Lauer's up to 75 pitches with no outs in the 3rd. I predict his arm falling off in about 2 minutes.

He's taken some cuts this year that seem a lot more sell-outish than what I remember seeing from him last year. This mentality is fine for Carpenter. Maybe even Torkelson. But it doesn't seem the best use of Green's skills to me. Could well be. Greene is a good opposite field hitter when he inside outs the ball but that's not going to get you a big ISO unless you're the size of Miguel. If he feels pressure to hit home runs he might be playing away from what he's most able to handle at this point. I think back to Lou Whittaker - came up and did most of his hitting the opposite way but was patient with himself and as he got older his pull power and timing just evolved naturally until he was an easy 20hr guy. I like that model but I can imagine that Tigers today are more impatient than they were when Lou came up.
Crazy Cat Gentleman
that seems like about enough for Turnbull today. didn't seem to really have it in general, and that was kind of a long 3rd.

gehringer_2
yeah - not getting a good feeling about where this is going. Don't like the chances of a hitter that can't throw a FB for a strike.
Crazy Cat Gentleman
ok, that's really enough for Turnbull now.
gehringer_2
top of the order to start the next inning for the Brewers. Hate to pull a guy after 4, but....
Tigermojo
Turnbull already at 75 pitches and Hinch has been pulling guys between 75 and 85 pitches so far.
Motor City Sonics
When pitchers come back from TJ surgery, their arms are stronger than before and the breaking pitches will break differently and it takes time to adjust. I wouldn't worry too much, Spence was kind of expected to go through this.

gehringer_2
Torkelson with his 3rd 100+mph exit velo. BaBIP on line drives is supposedly something like 600. He needs just a couple more degress of elevation on average to get it over some heads. Edited April 26, 2023 by gehringer_2

Jim Cowan
Interesting choice, trying to get a 3rd inning out of Englert. It's the 8th inning, use your high leverage guys
