Motor City Sonics Posted April 29, 2023 Author Posted April 29, 2023 Nate Sudfeld just threw his recliner across the room. And missed the reciver. 1 1 Quote
RandyMarsh Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Would've much rather took the guy he was throwing to in Tillman. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I think it's probably more likely that Goff gets an extension next year than it is we transition to Hooker as our next starter. I don't hate it as a 3rd round pick. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 This should be Goff's last year in Detroit. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted April 29, 2023 Author Posted April 29, 2023 I'm fine with it. I like the guy. This draft has been about building depth. Ding again ! Quote

Hooker never sees the field for Detroit outside of mop up duty or injury fill in. They're building a strong enough offense that Goff will assert himself as THE guy. I know some people like this pick but I was a "Go Big or Go Home" guy if they wanted QB and I don't see this as going big. Quote

Motown Bombers Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 He's going to be as old as Goff is now by the time he starts. 1 Quote
NYLion Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 The positive is that this might give the Lions some leverage on Goff's next contract with Hooker waiting in the wings. I like it from that standpoint. Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 It's very interesting that the Lions traded back not once but twice before selecting Hooker. That doesn't exactly exude confidence that he's your 2024 or 2025 starting QB. Ultimately I like it because I think the upside is through the roof for a 3rd round pick. Worst case he never sees the field, and that sucks for a 3rd, but it's also not the end of the world (like a 1st round QB busting could be). Quote

RandyMarsh Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I don't necessarily think the Hooker pick means the end of Goff, it could just be a matter of them feeling that they were in position to take a flyer on him just in case something happens to Goff whether it be injury or ineffectiveness. If Goff continues to excel then worst case scenario is you used a 3rd RD pick on a backup QB, a position that you were prepared to make a "strong offer" to fill anyway. Quote

Motown Bombers Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I'm convinced St Brown read the card wrong and it said Cedric Tillman, Tennessee. Quote
