Hooker never sees the field for Detroit outside of mop up duty or injury fill in. They're building a strong enough offense that Goff will assert himself as THE guy. That doesn't exactly exude confidence that he's your 2024 or 2025 starting QB. Ultimately I like it because I think the upside is through the roof for a 3rd round pick. Worst case he never sees the field, and that sucks for a 3rd, but it's also not the end of the world (like a 1st round QB busting could be). RandyMarsh Posted April 29, 2023 Share Posted April 29, 2023 I don't necessarily think the Hooker pick means the end of Goff, it could just be a matter of them feeling that they were in position to take a flyer on him just in case something happens to Goff whether it be injury or ineffectiveness. If Goff continues to excel then worst case scenario is you used a 3rd RD pick on a backup QB, a position that you were prepared to make a "strong offer" to fill anyway.
