chasfh Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I'd be a lot more open to keeping or even extending Rodriguez if he'd been more consistent through his career to this point. I would say the same thing about Baez. Quote
oblong Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 If the team is doing well at the deadline then you just make a choice between a trade making your org better going forward or ride him out to do as well as this year. I don't think it's a hard choice. Don't make a trade just to make a trade. Both scenarios are a positive in my book. This is different from 2017 with the JD trade because that team had given up and winning more games at that point wouldn't do much in terms of goodwill because the org signaled that things would be rough for awhile. But now the expectations are different and winning more games will matter going forward, even if a big contributor to that win total will be leaving for FA. Let him be someone else's problem in 3 years. Quote

And I don't see the Tigers hanging onto him if we get a decent offer. Younger players under control for several season? Yes, please. Harris prolly knows this Tiger team isn't a serious contender anyway, the same as Stevie Y. knew the Wings weren't good enough. Quote

He's going to be tough to trade, as he's a rental if he opts out, but you'd be stuck with the contract if he gets hurt. Edited May 11, 2023 by Longgone Quote
