I'll put this a different way for those who want to dump him: What could we expect in return if we traded him? 

A 1st, or a 2nd round pick? What if the "word" is out and the most Yzerman could get back is a 4th...? My point being: if we're trading him, we're most likely not getting our 1st round pick back. That's a sunk cost. Some might say "something is better than nothing". No, it's not. The worst case is to get "something" back, at a gross devaluation to the 1st, and then another team develops him into an All-Star starting goalie. Or... "Opportunity Cost."

IMO: the Opportunity Cost of losing him is higher than any return we will get for him right now. So I say we either develop him and he becomes a competent goalie for the Wings... or bust. And I'd rather bust than dump him cheaply and then in 3 years he's dominating the NHL, for another team.

in a perfect world, he would be part of a package for a star skilled player at the deadline in a push for playoff seeding.

For what it is worth, Wallstedt played one game in the Wild's prospect tournament and gave up 4 goals on 25 shots for a beastly .840 save percentage this past weekend.

I think if you view a player as 1st round prospect...you draft him in the 1st round.  I didn't have a problem with picking Cossa...wouldn't have had a problem with picking Wallstedt.  Would not be in favor of trading him at this point unless the offer is really really good

I would have to be overwhelmed (which is not going to happen at this point) to be interested.

I'm in the "just wait out the development curve" camp.

i would move cossa in a minute for a good player.  wouldnt even think twice about it.

i havent given up on cossa, but the chances of a goalie actually being a great player are pretty slim.

Now that the Tigers GM was formally in the Blackhawks front office, does this increase our chances of being able to trade for Connor Bedard? Maybe have Bedard get traded to Olympia Entertainment or Ilitch Holdings?
