RandyMarsh Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Garcia scolded it but thankfully right to Ibanez and the Tigers hang on. All things considered a solid split against the Rangers. 1 Quote

RatkoVarda Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 lost 2 games but it cost us 3 pitchers; hope Coors can help wake up some more bats Quote
LongLiveMaroth Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Splitting 4 with Texas on the road when we had 3 pitching injuries was surprising. 2 Quote
Shinzaki Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Tork cranked three line drive HR's with exit velo's in the 101-07 range. He's fun to watch when he's dialed in 2 2 Quote

He's fun to watch when he's dialed in Definitely, it would be nice though for him to avoid the depths he goes to when he is not dialed in. If he could just be merely below average during his down stretches instead of being absolutely dreadful like he seems to be during them his overall numbers will probably end up falling in line with what we hoped we'd get when we drafted him. For example he had that scorching stretch for a few weeks late last month and early this month but then after that he proceeded to go 3-37 with just 1XBH. Like if his bad stretches could be bad but not THAT bad things could turn out ok. 2 Quote
Sports_Freak Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 See? I told you to just have patience with Torkelson. He's still a kid...growing pains. 2 1 Quote

A much as we complain - rightfully - that Torkleson needs to hit for more consistent OBP, his 28 XBH still lead the team by a large margin (Javy next 18). And he's tied for the lead in BB. 1 Quote

Tigermojo Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Tork was interviewed after the game and he said he followed Miggy's advice to "trust his hands". Sounds like he's a guy who really needs to keep it simple and use his natural ability rather than overthinking things. The coaches should point out if he's falling into bad habits but definitely keep it simple. Quote

lordstanley Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 (edited) If Torkelson ends up with 20HR 75RBI and a .750 OPS this season, all of which he is either on pace for or seems capable of, I would definitely take that as a good enough step forward to build upon for future years.
