AZTigersfan
I’d much rather Short play 3rd and Maton play 2nd. I guess Hinch wants to see what changes happened in a couple of weeks at Toledo?
HeyAbbott
I don't give a flying leap at a rolling donut for what Hinch has in mind for Maton. Let's sweep these bastards!
gehringer_2
Hinch has a real bug up his rear about Maton at 3B. Makes no sense at all. There are at least 3 better 3B on the roster. If you want to play him, fine. Put his asz at 2B. Not to mention that if wants numbers, Maton's OPS at 2B is 756. It's 580 at 3B. I agree he should be at 2B nost often, but I really doubt what position he plays affects his OPS much if at all.

So do I, but if Hinch is all about playiing situational edges, there it is.
Hongbit
Big props for the Mariners for sporting 3 different uniforms this weekend.
RandyMarsh
I know we went through this discussion heavily with Maton before he was sent down but I haven't heard as much chatter about it with McKinstry, is it time now that he gets moved down in the order? He has been absolutely brutal at the plate since the end of May.
AZTigersfan
Tork watches way too many balls down in the zone for strikeouts. Gotta protect better Edited July 16, 2023 by AZTigersfan

RandyMarsh
This is cool, my favorite one of these gifts for retiring players was when a team(maybe Twins actually?) gave Mariano Rivera a rocking chair all made out of broken bats in honor of all the ones he induced over the years. I can't remember if they were actually bats he broke but either way I thought that was cool and creative.

I believe it's hard to excel at multiple positions in the same season. It's nice to have positional versatility, but there may be such a thing as overusing it. gehringer_2
Maton so close to the plate his toes are on the batter's box chalk.

Of course if Marisnik were out there he'd likely have caught it. Baddoo? Who knows. Parker Meadows on the other hand...... I am thinking more of the organization's mantra of positional versatility in general. If your roster is set up so that you have multiple guys playing all over the place, it may help you with offensive platoons but you also might be sacrificing defense. gehringer_2
good play by Maton. He comes in well - lateral not always so much.

I hope that whomever came up with that idea was promoted in the spot.
