CMU97 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Many bonus points if you can name this former Tiger/Royal. Hint: this is his college senior picture, right before he was drafted in 1974. Quote

He headlined an offseason baseball camp at his alma mater which was right across the park from my house. Sheridan was on hand to go over baserunning. Pretty sure it was when he was still with the Royals. Baseball had kicked my lack of skills to the curb by the time he was with the Tigers, so I probably wouldn't have gone to it. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Joe Randa is one of my fave Royal and Tiger. Always got a kick out of his little natural smirk he had that looked like Jack Nicholson's Joker. Quote
Dtrain72 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 (edited) Harvy benched...good, that 9th inning IDGAF plate apperance last night should have been the last straw...how about a nice 2 week stint on the DL with "shoulder tightness"? He needs time to get his head out of his unmitigated ass. Edited July 17, 2023 by Dtrain72 2 Quote
kdog Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 (edited) The only way to hold Baez accountable for poor production is playing time. It’s not even punitive. He has to find his power or he doesn’t help you win tonight’s game….that’s accounting for his good defense. Edited July 17, 2023 by kdog Quote

But I'm guessing it's being over-read. Hinch isn't about to bench him for any extended period because they're still convinced they are going to fix him. Quote
romad1 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Hinch has to know how the fan base reads this is as a punishment. So that is how Javy will read this. And that AB was that bad that he deserves this. Quote

Tiger337 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 The funny thing is that Baez has the best K rate of his career this year (22.9%). What's missing is his power. He may be the worst looking hitter I have ever seen, but he has always been that way and he has had some damn good stretches in the past. They can only hope that he has another one of those stretches now. He did it at the end of last year. Quote

Jim Cowan Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I didn't like Torkelson's instincts there. There were 2 out on only 7 pitches, and he swings at the first one which was not middle middle, instead of making Lyles throw a few more. If we had done that as teenagers we'd have gotten yelled at. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Tork gives you this week stretch where you really think he is turning a corner but then follows it up with a 2 to 3 week stretch where he hits even worse than Javy before repeating the process again. Quote
Dtrain72 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Matt Veirling really let's himself go in the off season... Quote
Dtrain72 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 This game kinda has "one of those" vibes to it... Quote
