I'm not sure I've ever seen a beat writer crush on former Tigers nearly as much as McCoskey does. It practically makes me blush every time I see it.

No joke... it's not like Reese Olson or any other guys battling for a spot on this team gets a "whoop!" for making the team

I guess this is the kind of thing being a terrible team for so many years can result in. Maybe once we start winning, we can stop hearing the breathlessly-tweeted exploits of subreplacement ex-Tigers.

Tyler Alexander starting for a projected playoff team is actually pretty interesting.  Of course, starting for the Rays is not always the same as starting for a normal team.

He can expect his arm to fall off by August.

Chase Anderson and Zac Houston never threw a single pitch for this org in a regular season game. That's insane.

TBF, maybe the MLive people are expressly looking for angles that will give them something different in their coverage than just duplicating exactly what is already being reported in the DetNews and Freep. IDK if ex-tigers is a particularly effective implementation of that kind of strategy but I can see it might be a deliberate effort to get outside what's already available elsewhere.

Just a guess they changed the headline on wire angles and reworked the top slightly if at all.

Make it seem new/relevant without really doing much.

I personally cannot wait for this upcoming series with the Royals, now that "Downriver Johnny" Schreiber is on the team.... what's the over/under on McCoskey mentions there?

Schreiber is one of those guys who was never going to make it under Avila, and had to go someplace else to have any kind of decent career.

I've never ever heard him referred to D-No.  Perhaps the players did as they tend to do that kind of thing on the field... but reporters shouldnt.   What an embarassment.
