I know it’s far more likely a mirage than a turning point, but this Detroit Tigers team played like champions today.

Baddoo has 5 hits since Jun 1. Not looking at all like the hitter he teased he might be. Many big slow swings and misses, the short fast bat seems AWOL.

His arms look huge. Maybe he added too much bulk.

Might as well keep throwing him out there, though, until we get someone better to replace him with.

I've wondered the same thing. It is possible to tie yourself up too much to play this game but you'd think with all the training knowledge, tech and supervision guys would know how not to do that anymore.

Getting kinda close to thinking Parker Meadows might be worth looking at over Baddoo tbh

What was weird is that he had a great May (and without any great BaBIP luck), then the quad - rehab - and poof, it was just gone.

Skubal does not have particularly great statcast spin numbers on his FB, but it's a very live FB none-the-less. He must have a really good spin axis or something for those rotation numbers to produce that kind of vertical break and the resulting whiff rates - and 98 doesn't hurt.

Maybe. He's hitting .262/.341/.471 in 400 trips at Toledo this year but Fangraphs has his wRC+ at 98, which is right around league average. If we believe that number, it's likely he comes up and rakes at a 75 or 80 wRC+ level, which will have people screaming for Hinch's head for running him out there night after night.

Of course, if we don't believe that wRC+ number and think he'll hit like an All-Star, then by all means, come on up!
