They needed someone with a little f you attitude. They'll still probably lose by a combined 90 points to Michigan and Ohio State next year. But I like the spirit. Quote
MIguy Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) Not sure if Washington came to play or if Oregon just hasn't found the on switch. Edited December 2, 2023 by MIguy Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I'm not surprised by Washington jumping out early. There has been too much talk about Oregon walking all over them. They're 12-0 for a reason, they don't suck. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Washington currently up 10-0, I mean unless UGA loses ultimately it doesn't matter but if they win comfortably should they or will they pass Michigan regardless of what we do on Saturday since they are playing the number 4 team and we're playing Iowa? Quote
Deleterious Posted December 2, 2023 Author Posted December 2, 2023 Washington is #2 pretty easy with a win. You could even argue #1. Best resume in CFB assuming they win. Quote

Nah. Not unless we are about to see a blow out and a close game against Iowa at least. Ohio State would be ranked above Oregon, and Michigan would have wins over two top tens in Ohio State and Penn State, plus Iowa. Washington would have wins over one top ten in Oregon (x2), plus Oregon State and Arizona. Mostly a wash, but Michigan has definitely passed the eye test better than UW. UW has played eight games decided by 10 or less. Compared to three for Michigan. I still think Oregon wins this. Their offense can score at any moment. Quote

lordstanley Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Oregon is playing horrible defense. Do they think this is touch football? Quote

Not gonna happen but it wouldn't matter because Michigan and Washington would be #2 and #3 and play each other. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Really bad pass interference call sets up Oregon with a 1st and Goal here. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Didnt really think of it till now but Considering one of the CFP games are playing Pasadena this year it would be pretty cool/fitting to see an old Big 10 vs. Pac 10 clash in the Rose Bowl with Michigan and Washington/Oregon, particularly with this essentially being the swan song of that conference. I expect Michigan to go to the Rose Bowl one way or another. I expect they would choose it as the #1 seed or get assigned it as the #2 seed. Lots of cool matchups there. Even the possible Michigan/Texas match would be a rematch from 2005. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 20-17 now. This should go down to the wire. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Bo Nix and Michael Penix trading terrible interceptions like the Heisman candidates they are. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I gotta wonder if Bo Nix just wasn't paying attention to the player out of bounds or if he forgot/didn't realize that he was allowed to come back in and touch the ball. Quote

According to 97.1 this afternoon, the belief that the #1 seed gets to choose where they play is incorrect. Quote

Did they source? I found some stuff from 2022 indicating that Alabama chose the Cotton Bowl... Obviously Georgia was going to choose the Peach Bowl last year (if they did indeed get a choice)... I haven't seen anything that indicates otherwise. But nothing that definitively says they choose either. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Does Penix have no faith at all in his offensive line? It feels like every throw is a five-step drop that he turns into an eight-step drop, throwing off his back foot. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I don't see a quality NFL QB in either Penix or Nix. Mileage may vary. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I'm watching without audio and was stunned to see Washington still has the ball. That looked like an obvious fumble to me. Quote

lordstanley Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) Washington back in front, 27-24. I much prefer the Michigan-Ohio St style of game of last weekend. Even though this isn’t really that much more high scoring. Edited December 2, 2023 by lordstanley Quote

He's quoting from a reporter in New Orleans who was doing a story on the Sugar Bowl and who might be playing there. The reporter spoke to someone at the CFP committee. Doug then goes on to read some of the official rules that leave things a bit up in the air as to how it's actually decided. Edited December 2, 2023 by MIguy 1 Quote
