Out of that top 10, USC,ND,Oklahoma, Florida and LSU will have all become available since then. If Day were to leave for the NFL then OSU would make 6. Just a crazy time in the college football. BTW the Michigan job ranked 11th on that list. It will be interesting to see if FLA and USC are really just a coach away from regaining glory or if there are more complex factors that have changed the situation at those particular schools. Its weird to me how in states loaded with talent like Florida and California that all their biggest schools could all be down at the same time. USC should get back to some level of success. They have an easy division in an easy conference. Riley will be able to recruit without much competition in one of the best areas of the country. As schools start to figure out how to use NIL as advantage, the opportunities possible in Los Angeles will become some of the best around. Florida plays in the toughest conference in the country and has to battle with LSU, FSU, UGA, Miami, and Bama for every recruit. I think this is a much much harder job. buddha
ND won't take urban. he's too toxic right now. ND only takes toxic personalities when they're losing (like hiring lou holtz) and then once they start winning they get on their moral high horse and proclaim how they just need a great moral leader as coach (like getting rid of holtz when he complained about not being able to get randy moss into school) and then hire ty willingham (cause he's black and so well spoken) until he sucks. then when they start losing they hire the "next big thing" and let him be corrupt and an ass hole and kill kids (brian kelly) but they dont care cause theyre winning. they've been on a winning streak so now they'll get on their moral high horse again and hire matt campbell or luke fickell. they wont touch urban. RandyMarsh
I also heard that USC had to buy his 2 existing homes in Norman(have no idea why one needs 2 homes in Norman) and allow him 24/7 access to the school's private jet. Oh to be a fly on the wall during those negotiations.

If you're Fickell, assuming his eyes are ultimately on OSU, what do you do? Do you grab ND while you can move up and stay in the Midwest or do you hold out hope that Day moves on sooner rather than later?

Oh, I think USC hit a home run with Riley. I think I recall hearing there was a slight fear that he might move on from Oklahoma to the pros, but the USC thing was a coup. I didn't realize he had only another season with Oklahoma.

He should be in a giving mood. Harbaugh is a big, big winner in this coaching carousel. He bet on himself last year and his number hit. He’s going to triple his earnings in a year. Steve Ross may have to sell a property in Manhattan to pay for the extension.

Motor City Sonics
Okay, I think the College Football Cartell is sending Notre Dame a message now. Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Cincinnati and Oklahoma State are all ranked ahead of them and all of them have to play in a conference championship game. Notre Dame is sitting pretty, pretending they are in the ACC, but not having to play by the rules. I think it keeps them out of the playoffs. Maybe Brian Kelly sees that and sees that he'll always have to be perfect just to get in. Who knows, but he's in LSU now. He has one 9-3 year and they'll tear him to pieces. Good. RandyMarsh
With Michigan being in the 2 spot I think it's safe to assume that if they make the CFP they will end up in the 2 or 3 spot and avoiding Georgia in the first game. buddha
if michigan beats iowa, georgia will be kryptonite for them. that defense should be very very hard for michigan to move the ball on. but first thing's first: have to beat iowa. if you look at iowa's season, michigan should beat them easily. but iowa is sneaky. they play that dang cover 2 and they are positionally sound. they wont make the undisciplined stupid mistakes like osu did. theyre much better coached. they have a good defensive line, so it might be harder for michigan to run. on offense, they have poor tackles but a great center. they have poor qb play. they are sound, but dont have playmakers. michigan's ends should be a problem for them. look, they almost lost to northwestern. they were outgained or close to it in almost every game they played. they got lucky penn state's qb got hurt or that was a loss. they got outgained 2-1 against iowa state and still won. if michigan doesnt turn the ball over, they should win by two touchdowns. Agree. We'll see if this new Jim Harbaugh can keep resisting that temptation to go off the script that is working for his team. You've got the horses Jim, you don't need anything cute in this one. Save it for Georgia if you get there. Edited December 1, 2021 by gehringer_2
