slothfacekilla Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 I'm not really a huge basketball fan, and certainly not a Lakers fan, but I'm enjoying the Winning Time show on HBO a lot. I feel like there is a lot of good acting in it, and they make it interesting. I'm sure it is super sensationalized but I don't mind that. There are a ton of rumors that it is going to get cancelled, but I hope it gets at least a third season. I don't really know the history of that era much so I'm just along for the ride and enjoying it. Quote
smr-nj Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 AMC - Black Snow - sooooooo good! Also AMC - Dark Winds. Quote
MIguy Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 They canceled The Great on Hulu today. That stinks, such a fun show. Quote

I can’t get enough of it. I read the book it was based on. Some great stuff in there. 1 Quote
smr-nj Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 I started watching “The Expanse” - a sci-fi series on Amazon Prime. It’s interesting . 👍 Anyone else watching this? What do you think? Quote

pfife Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 2 shows we watched recently I liked: Dopesick - about Sacklers and OxyContin, think it's on Hulu Telemarketers - HBO Max documentary about scamming telemarketers Quote
oblong Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 I listened to Peter Berg on a podcast, he made Painkillers for Netflix which also covers the Sacklers. Been wanting to watch Dopesick but I think it'll just make me so angry. Quote
smr-nj Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Another AMC show - Dark Winds. I really liked this series… glad to hear they’ll be a season 2. Quote
oblong Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Anybody watching Winning Time? I absolutely love it and it's revived my interest in that era of the NBA. THe last episode had a great scene with Riley taking over the team. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 The Winning Time episodes just keep getting better I feel like. Quote
Deleterious Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Not exactly TV, but I think this looks interesting if you like history. Have only watched this intro trailer so not a recommendation yet. Quote

smr-nj Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Patriot on Amazon Prime. Quirky as all hell, but got through season 1 in a couple of days. Really good show, imo. Quote
Deleterious Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Watched the first episode of the new Frasier. Well, it was good enough that I will watch episode 2. Who knows after that. I was kind of bugged that he is back in Boston and not going to Cheers. The creators said that was a bad time in Frasier's life and he is not anxious to go back there but might in future seasons. They also said Lilith is the only former Cheers cast member that will appear this season (ex wife, mother of his kid). But they are open to others appearing later. My guess is right about the time the ratings dip. You can watch the first episode free on Youtube. Quote

Not that the original Night Court was necessarily comedy gold … But yeah, if Seinfeld and David want to wrap it up, they better do it quick, as long as there are still enough people on this planet who still care about it. Deleterious Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Speaking of Night Court. Richard Moll passed away today. He played Bull on the original Night Court. Quote
MIguy Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Matthew Perry was found dead at his home. Reports are that he drowned in a Jacuzzi. Quote

oblong Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Or you could have high blood pressure and pass out. Those time limits they post at Public hot tubs are not just for show. It’s a legit concern. But given his history it’s not a stretch to suggest something like that. You are never over addiction. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Wow, Matthew Perry has died (drowning in his own pool). Only 54 Quote
lordstanley Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 (edited) Apparently had played pickleball for a couple of hours this morning before that. It’s big news not only for our generation but also for younger people. Friends is very big among teens in reruns. Seinfeld, on the other hand, they’ve never heard of or don’t find funny.
