We're planning an anniversary trip to Aruba, probably, and watching those set me up probably for disappointment.  Those resorts cost thousands a day.  Mine, not so much.

I've gotten into Slow Horses. Based on Mick Herron's spy novels. So far the first two seasons are faithful to the books. Gary Oldman is a treasure as Jackson Lamb, ringmaster of this band of misfits.

l really enjoyed this as well.   The normal spy show trope about magical hackers learning details in real time exists but the overall understanding about the processes are pretty smart.

Wife an I just started The Bear.  An elite NYC chef returns to run his dead brother's Chicago place.  I wouldn't normally care for foodie storyline but very clever.  Very specific Chicago culture stuff.  Very interesting exposition of the story.   Good so far (about 4 episodes in).   One character played by one of the first story arc of Andor actors.

I loved it.  The kids birthday party episode was classic.

Episode 7 is one of the best TV episodes I ever saw.  It triggered a lot of cooks.  It was also shot in one continuous take.

That's the next episode for me...cool.

This one is gonna have a lot more F bombs than a Disney+ show.

Just watched first episode of The Last of Us.   This is from Craig Mazin of Chernobyl fame which says a lot to his credit.   The storyline feels a little videogame paint-by-the-numbers but I'm gonna keep watching for Pedro Pascal and the girl from Game of Thrones.

The Bear had already been renewed for season 2.

Ok… took me 2days, and I’ve watched all 8 episodes. LOVED it 👍

Gimme more ideas. 😁

Andor.  Best Disney+ thing they have done with the exception of the Hamilton movie.

Disney+ is a service I don’t have. 😕

But I’d love any recommendations for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime. 👍

We've been enjoying the sweet humor of Abbott Elementary which is on Hulu.

I struggled with Hamilton and it's my own doing I think.  I like the subtitles on.  Especially with singing I have always struggled with hearing what they say.  But for Hamilton it was distracting because after 15 minutes I found myself just reading a very brief history of things I already knew.  I was missing the "performance" of it all.  So I turned them off and it was better.

But.... I don't know.  It didn't get me like apparently everybody else in the universe.  I was "meh" about it. I'm not a musical guy at all.  I think it's because of the aforementioned problem understanding what they are saying in the song. To me it's just noise.  I can't pick out the word

I can't help you.   My Dad who was 91 at the time also struggled with it.

Netflix:

Dead To Me (haven't watched the latest season yet, but enjoyed the previous two.)

I think You Should Leave ("sketch" comedy and it's not for everyone. Very short episodes.)

The Mole (recent reboot of the reality series)

Hulu:

Reservation Dogs is supposed to be good. Haven't watched it myself yet.

The Old Man (Jeff Daniels is great in this.)

What We Do In The Shadows

Prime:

Marvelous Mrs Maisel

Reacher

Jack Ryan

Upload

The Boys

Invincible (animated and very violent, but excellent)

The Shield - Hulu - One of the best cop shows ever.

Justified - Hulu - Another really strong law enforcement show

Queens Gambit - Netflix - Might not like it if you don't like chess

Yellowjackets - Showtime - The Bear was my second favorite new show last year.   Yellowjackets was my first.  Showtime has a free 30 day trial.

Cobra Kai - Netflix - Cheesy, corny, way over the top.  But it works.  I binge it within 2 or 3 days of a new season being released.

Righteous Gemstones - HBO - Danny McBride making fun of televangelists.  Any show with John Goodman is good.  Edi Patterson is amazing in this.

Eastbound and Down - Another Danny McBride series.

Godless - Netflix

Ozark - Netflix

1883 - Paramount

Ted Lasso - Apple TV -
