He was performing as part of the Marine Band in a celebration of the 25th anniversary of The West Wing. Sorkin and a lot of the cast/crew. He said it was a great event and he especially liked a brief Martin Sheen speech that was kind of Jed Barlett lite. That’s great. I saw tweets about it. My WW claim to fame is seeing Richard Schiff when we were all walking out. I said Hi and he nodded and he gave me the Toby look. Loved it. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 First episode of The Penguin was fantastic. Colin Farrell will win awards for how he is playing Oz. Quote

One of the podcasts I listen to said that the show runners had always planned for three seasons. Hulu/FX insisted after season two that they change it to four seasons. Unfortunately that made season three a drag. Quote

I lost the urgency to watch it and now we have 2 episodes left and will finish probably tomorrow night. It didn't draw me in this time. The episodes reminded of what TV shows were doing during COVID when restrictions on production meant they often had isolated storylines in order to reduce exposure. I want more action in the restaurant. In the one episode when they flashed back to earlier days and you saw them all yelling at each other, that was fun. It got to the point where I would welcome a commercial on Hulu so I could play on my phone. Quote
boilerfan Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Lets hope that they redeem themselves and get back to the original energy with season 4. They have also offered insight on the limitations put on Rings of Power. I knew they only had use of specific parts of the written material, but they are also limited to only 8 episodes per season. Those limitations come from the Tolkien Estate. That is why they have had some one hour plus episodes this season. Quote
boilerfan Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Slow Horses is about to wrap up another really solid season. They have also finished filming the next season. Quote

Deleterious Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Watch two minutes from this spot. I had to look it up and see if Sorkin wrote it or some WW alum directed it. Negative on both. Still a nice walk and talk. Quote
Deleterious Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Finished a rewatch of The Shield. Such an underrated and great show. Arguably the best series finale ever IMO. It was the girls first time watching it and she enjoyed it. A bit shocked since it isn't really her type of show. Quote

I watched it for maybe a couple shows and I crapped out, basically because cop shows were never my thing. But I was very impressed with the innovative way they started out building up one of the characters to make you believe he was going to be a main guy throughout the series, and then toward the end of the series premiere episode they unceremoniously killed him off. That got my attention. I may give it another whirl. Quote

They feature exterior shots of the Temple Bar, which sadly had some structural damage occur this year and has yet to reopen. I see pallets of materials out front but they've been there for awhile so who knows... sure hope they reopen. Classic dive bar and a favorite of ours before or after Tiger games. No nonsense. Quote

Deleterious Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Colin Farrell isn't the only one killing it in Penguin. Cristin Milioti is excellent as Sofia. She does crazy really well. The one small thing that is sort of odd. Penguin is making moves and Batman is nowhere to be found? I get it's not a Batman show. But how is all this crime being committed in Gotham and Batman is nowhere to be seen? Quote
Deleterious Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Ken Jennings said Jeopardy will start streaming in early 2025. It will include the 41 previous seasons as well. He said mostly likely it will be on Hulu or Prime. Quote
chasfh Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Hope they include the Art Fleming seasons. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 From Wiki: Quote Only a small number of episodes survive from Fleming's run as host of Jeopardy!. From the original NBC daytime version, archived episodes mostly consist of black-and-white kinescopes of the original color videotapes.[169] Quote
chasfh Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I'm one of the few people who watched the Art Fleming Jeopardy a lot, particularly in the summer at noon on channel 4 ("WWJ-TV, The Detroit News"), and who is a regular viewer of the Ken Jennings Jeopardy, but who almost never watched the Alex Trebek Jeopardy. 🤷♂️ Quote
