Clearly contract wise - but I just meant health wise - as in recurring trips to DL. Zimm is the poster child for how to end a career with cervical vertebrae issues. Reason why Ohtani only signed for 2.3 million is that he was too young to sign as a free agent, and had to go through the international signing process. Yamamoto is of age, but is a unicorn because he's so young and polished and talented. Close.

I think Olson and Ibanez are starters at the beginning of the season.
Tenacious D
If Olson isn’t in the rotation, I think he’s in Toledo.

SoCalTiger
The 26 is getting a bit competitive so we must be improving. Nice of season so far Mr. Harris. Still no trades.....

It could easily be Mize at Toledo to start the season. But it will almost certainly resolve itself - someone will be hurt or won't get anyone out in ST. 1
gehringer_2
I will take a guess based on the signing of three additional relievers that we can expect to see Skubal/Mize/Manning/Olsen et al treated with kid gloves - meaning lots of short starts no matter who makes the rotation. Dan Gilmore
From that first list I would add Ibanez replacing Maton. The pitching will sort itself out, as mentioned, and Olson would be the likely replacement for any injury (or for better performance). There’s another one used like that around here, I forget which one I think BP is primarily Batting Practice. But it is used for both. But batting practice is about a 0 in my head, I never really think about it... The Bullpen... quite often. So I always think of BP = Bullpen even though there's not much out there that supports that. Here's a couple of links though: https://www.acronymfinder.com/Bullpen-(baseball)-(BP).html Bullpen Tournaments BP Tournament Logo https://bullpentournaments.com › Home Home · Baseball · 2023 Tournaments · Baseball Rules · Divisions · Rosters ... Bullpen · Grand Park · Grand Park Campus Map · Park Rules · Directions · Parking I think we had this discussion on here before... including Casimir's "Arm Barn" suggestion... Or maybe that was on the old site...?

I think it's Olson that makes the roster and Mize that starts out in Toledo... with kid gloves on him... I think there's also a non-zero possibility that there are 6 starters on the Opening Day roster, but a 5-man rotation. I like the idea of Manning and Mize co-starting games. Manning pitches 5 inn's, Mize 4. Next start: Mize pitches 5, Manning 4. And so on and so on...
Jim Cowan
Seeing BP used for "bullpen" makes me cringe. It means "batting practice". Period.

Splitting starts for guys on innings limits makes so much sense you know it must rub old school baseball people the wrong way.... One of the beat writers, don't remember which - wrote this week that the Tigers say there will be no 6 man rotations. Of course given the quality of the sports reporting in town that may be worthless in general, plus it's also possible that even if management did tell him that, a 5 day rotation with a split start every 5th day may or may not be management's definition of a 6 man rotation.
