Edman85 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Hmmm... it's not letting me edit. There's more than just Amezaga in there... A couple scouts (by the way, check out the article from McCosky on the recently retired scout who committed suicide this month), assistant trainer, minor league staff... Quote
oblong Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Santiago also won’t be back. Lots of Avila guys let go. Gabe Alvarez in the running for 1B. Quote

oblong Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 there's gossipy stuff about a former travel secretary. This person was an assistant Clubhouse Mgr (visiting), then got promoted. When Verlander dumped his HS sweetheart (after buying her a house), for Kate, she began dating this person, I think he even moved into the house. JV tried to get him fired. Doug Fister got involved about the unfairness of it all. Some suggest that's why Fister was traded so abrubtly. I know the guy's name but won't say it publicly. It's gossip so take it with the appropriate grains of salt. This may have been something I read from a noted jerk on twitter that isn't around anymore. Or I might have gotten it from someone I know who's connected. (I got dope on Al Sabotka's issues with the Red Wings too). Quote
Tenacious D Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Great—now please clear these Tigers conspiracies for me: -Miggy got injured trying to separate Prince and Avisail Garcia, after he allegedly slept with Fielder’s wife. -Brandon Inge punched Ugueth Urbana on a team flight. -Gibby physically went after Pudge for being disrespectful to Tram, when he was manager. -Ron LeFlore went MIA for a game, the same day his brother’s alleged killer was murdered. oblong Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 No. Don’t know. Yes. Don’t know. getting physical is a broad term. Punching? No. But enough of a thing to attract eyeballs. Quote

Mike Ilitch owns both the Tigers and Red Wings; the Red Wings’ $63 million payroll is the second-highest in the NHL, trailing only to the Rangers, but the Tigers’ payroll is in the bottom third in baseball. “Ain’t much I can do about it. He’s the owner. It’s his money; he can spend it however he chooses to. We’re all making good money, so just deal with it. When he gets ready to spend and get a competitive team on the field, he’ll do it,” Higginson said. “All these others clubs had the same opportunity. These guys got money: They just don’t want to spend it. “They’re just sitting around waiting to get some new labor deal that works in favor for them while this guy over here [George Steinbrenner] don’t wait around for nothing; he sees an opportunity and capitalizes on it. He wants to win. Some of these other guys aren’t trying to do it. Quote
