Edman85 Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 What if it's a LHH outfielder? And they have room to take two if they want to. Quote

Cruzer1 Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 One thing that the pandemic did, and this is fascinating to me, is change the perception of the older players in the minors who can play in the majors. It's also an effect from the larger rosters. Quote

casimir Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 I'm going to guess they'll draft 2B/3B Devin Mann if available. He's a RHH 27 year old (Opening Day) with very good on base skills and some pop in his bat. If he were to make the Opening Day roster, this would allow for Vierling to play CF vs LHPs and/or when Meadows needs a day off. This also buys time for Jung to play more 3B in the minors until he is ready and is a contingency in case Keith isn't ready for 2B to start the season. Quote
RatkoVarda Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Mann is interesting; but it might be better to have Kriedler or Lipcius or Leonard who can all freely by moved up and down as needed. I'll continue my perfect record of being wrong and say Hudson Haskin. Quote

I'll continue my perfect record of being wrong and say Hudson Haskin. You could probably lump Mann in with those other IFs and they've all got their pros and cons. The options that you mention are beneficial. I would think Lipcius and possibly Kreidler aren't necessarily locks to make it through the offseason on the 40 if the Tigers need those spots. Certainly Nevin has the hotter seat before them. Quote
chasfh Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 If they take anyone, I also believe it will be a bullpen arm. I don't think they're going to relegate Parker to a platoon role, especially since as a LHH he has hit LHPs better all the way through pro ball, expect 2022. I also don't think they take a utility guy to play 3B because they won't want to block Jung or Keith with a guy they have to keep on the roster all year. Quote
casimir Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 I think Edman predicted the extra option year for Faedo. Or maybe just called out the possibility. Quote

1776 Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 At the rate this week is going for the Tigers, the biggest story will be the Harris/Hinch bromance. Quote
