Arizona's making it to the World Series shows the Tigers may only be 6 wins shy of being a contender.

Arizona was 52-110 in 2021, 74-88 in 2022, and 84-78 this season.

Texas was 60-102 in 2021, 68-94 in 2022, and 90-72 this season.

Cabrera is off of the books and Baez will be the only significant salary around.  There are a few emerging younger players.  The pitching side seems to be a continuing positive if the can keep healthy.

Do it, Scotty.  Put a playoff roster together this offseason.

Cool story, Andrew Saalfrank went to my kids Lutheran school in New Haven, IN. In 8th grade his basketball team went to the Lutheran national final four, lost in championship game. He was an assistant coach for my son's basketball team two years ago when they finished runner up in the state championship. Still comes to our little church when he is back in town.

I fear that we are going to have to wait until the time is right before Mr. Calculated Risk he does anything significant; maybe Winter 2026?

I also heard his dad worked at Ikea for 30 years and they named an ottoman after him for his distinguished service.

I think it's somewhat disappointing that an 84-78 team is going to play a 90-72 team in the World Series. I know that's the kind of thing we can expect to see more of with expanded playoffs, and in fact I will enjoy watching these games and certain of the players on these teams. I would prefer the teams with the best records, or close to the best, make the Series. Just my preference, shaped by a lifetime of fandom. YMMV, and probably does.

Of course, if the Tigers go 84-78 next season and make the World Series, I will definitely throw this opinion into the dustbin of history. 😁

If this offseason had a broad crop of position player FAs, I would be on board with signing a few. Maybe next year? This year, get FA arms while there are solid options there, hope to add a bat if it makes sense?

The goal, however achieved, should be to win the AL Central.  It’s doable.

Assuming you believe we couldn't do that with the talent we have on board and in the system now, who do you think would be a good get for winning the division next year?
